Hello all. New to the forum, but not joes. Been with them since '85, ahhh... childhood. Now I'm a childish adult. Well, to the rumors. I'm in pretty tight with my local wal mart toy manager. He is also a toy collector. He told me joes are already dead and we just don't know it. His distributor told him they were going to cut back distribution to prepare for the upcoming movie and any tie-ins. Seeing as how joes have been short shipped and had issues since the beginning(hence the purgatory of 3 pegs) mr. wal mart manager says he(and speculates others) will probably cut back on orders if not stopping new orders period. I've watched quite a few lines be killed by a combination of dumb asses within the toy and retail worlds(hence SW unleashed, how could you kill that line?) So, someone chime in if they have heard anything similar or for that matter dis-similar. Thanks.

Star Wars Unleashed died because nobody was buying them.

The modern era is going on a brief hiatus during the movie, but the line is not dead. Love when people who really don't know start speculating.
Each part of the country is different. Some areas support certain toy lines, others do not. For instance, Wal-Mart.. My local wal-mart is a superstore (the ones with the grocery store in it). They don't carry vehicles. A much much smaller Wal-Mart about 30 minutes away carries vehicles. You'd think the bigger one would carry them and the smaller wouldn't, but for whatever reason the bigger one doesn't carry them. So going by what a local wal-mart manager says really only applies to what goes on in that one store.

I heard they've put tiny hidden cameras (THCs) on all the action figure aisles in all the Walmarts and Targets so that they can narrow down who is buying Joes so those they find can be subjected to higher than normal levels of subliminal wussification suggestive re-education and indoctrination (SWSRI) via all forms of media (AFM). Get out your aluminum foil hats boys...

Star Wars TFU had a toy line, and it was killed? First I heard of that.

Gi joe is one of the most popular toy lines right now!
But your right, lets look at all the signs that point to the lines death: An ultimate battle pack from Target An exclusive "destro' Hasbro selling AFA graded figures! A major motion picture in the works A new internet cartoon A horde of new comic titles. Gosh your right why would Hasbro even think of continuing this line????? (allright thats all the sarcasm I got time to go back to the sarcasm well....) |

2009 already has 4 vehicle packs, 4 comic packs, about 9 figures (resolute and modern era) announced.
That's not even getting into the movie toys.
