Hello all. New to the forum, but not joes. Been with them since '85, ahhh... childhood. Now I'm a childish adult. Well, to the rumors. I'm in pretty tight with my local wal mart toy manager. He is also a toy collector. He told me joes are already dead and we just don't know it. His distributor told him they were going to cut back distribution to prepare for the upcoming movie and any tie-ins. Seeing as how joes have been short shipped and had issues since the beginning(hence the purgatory of 3 pegs) mr. wal mart manager says he(and speculates others) will probably cut back on orders if not stopping new orders period. I've watched quite a few lines be killed by a combination of dumb asses within the toy and retail worlds(hence SW unleashed, how could you kill that line?) So, someone chime in if they have heard anything similar or for that matter dis-similar. Thanks.

The modern era is going on a brief hiatus during the movie, but the line is not dead. Love when people who really don't know start speculating.
Each part of the country is different. Some areas support certain toy lines, others do not. For instance, Wal-Mart.. My local wal-mart is a superstore (the ones with the grocery store in it). They don't carry vehicles. A much much smaller Wal-Mart about 30 minutes away carries vehicles. You'd think the bigger one would carry them and the smaller wouldn't, but for whatever reason the bigger one doesn't carry them. So going by what a local wal-mart manager says really only applies to what goes on in that one store. |

Where did I speculate about anything? I said that each part of the area is different. It could be in that guy's store that they will be cutting back on Joes, but go to the next town and it's possible they could be increasing.

but i personally would trust a walmart manager/collectors "speculation" more than yours(no offence) i dont think the op and his source was saying that the line is completely ending, only that walmarts will order less or none. there must be some truth to this because over the past few months i have noticed that walmart carries less and less joes, even with the revision cases being out notice that it is target with pegs full of them and walmart has only a few. so i believe what the op is saying.
My GF works for WalMart....and she is told to play dumb by her LSM (Think thats what she calls them) if a guest ask for something....the guys who change your oil at Walmart are stock boys that get thrown out there........not al of them but most are.... The truth is people that work in the departments at Walmart dont know anything about the department......... |

I am in the middle of nowhere, and Joes are moving. Maybe not as fast as Star Wars (mainly because there is a SW scalper that hits Walmart hard), but every time I go there are a few less figures. The vehicles have been restocked at least 3 times in the last month.

Have to agree with the rest of the guys here.. Your manager don't know what he is talking about cause I know a manager at my local Walmart and he is always getting in more figures.. Just sold 30 of them last week and has 24 more coming in a few weeks... The line is going on hiatus for the movie like Transformer Classics did last year.. It will last about a little less then a year just like the TF's and then they'll bring the line back... Trust me they have NOOOO intention of ending this line.. I can't tell you how I know this but let's just say I have friends in higher places.... |
