I think any cutback would be related to the economy. However, I'm confident Hasbro will keep the line alive - we still have GI Joe Resolute and the Movie coming out. As I am running out of closet space at home, I don't mind taking a breather with the 25th line. But I want Hasbro to continue selling GI Joes.

All I know is that at my wally world, the pegs are full of Wild Bills, Snake Eyes (night vision version), and Jet Pack Duke.
The manager will not order anymore until these worthless peg warmers are sold. What is disappointing, they over ordered their stock so we are loaded up with these and even if the manager tries to order more, their computer system automatically cancels the order due to overstock! It is annoying! There are only a few collectors like me in the town and maybe just a few kids who like this line in Dodge City so it sucks because selling the peg warmers are unlikely. You have to go to ebay to find your rarer figures which are in demand. There are many deficiencies about this town and this is only one of them. Thanks

The toy department manager is blowing smoke up your ass and trying to make himself look all big and important. Walmart department managers do not have a direct link to a Hasbro distributor. All orders come strait from a warehouse. Toy department managers (and even store managers) do not speak with Hasbro directly - home office does.

Hello all. New to the forum, but not joes. Been with them since '85, ahhh... childhood. Now I'm a childish adult. Well, to the rumors. I'm in pretty tight with my local wal mart toy manager. He is also a toy collector. He told me joes are already dead and we just don't know it. His distributor told him they were going to cut back distribution to prepare for the upcoming movie and any tie-ins. Seeing as how joes have been short shipped and had issues since the beginning(hence the purgatory of 3 pegs) mr. wal mart manager says he(and speculates others) will probably cut back on orders if not stopping new orders period. I've watched quite a few lines be killed by a combination of dumb asses within the toy and retail worlds(hence SW unleashed, how could you kill that line?) So, someone chime in if they have heard anything similar or for that matter dis-similar. Thanks.

I talked to a walmart employee tonight and they said they were going to stop carrying food products so ya better get out ther e quick or you will have to do your joe and food shopping at HEB!
no thats not true..... I think Walmart is taking a hiatus from Joes though since they seem to be getting the revision cases. I just picked up wave 11 in its entirity at Target along with a paraviper and bazooka trooper So I specualte the case that Targets have is Paraviper, Bazooka Trooper (wave 10 mix with 11) + Cobra Flint, Trakker, Zartan, Airborne, Scarlett Le Pilot, Eel The newest pack I saw at Walmart was a wave 10 revision but it had Rock n Roll, Major Bluud, Flash, Spirit, Snake eyes with the night vision goggles/knives on chest, BBQ, Battle Armor CC and a wave 10 Mutt + Junkyard. Odd.. the way wave 10 is split up amongst wave 11 at Walmart and target currenlty. The HEB stuff we found here in Texas at the end of September were all wave 10 figs + BATS and 1-2 Wave 9 figs... |

Wow, hell of a thread I started here. Freakin' Vader stepped in... Ha ha! I haven't even been on here a day and I can imagine that's not a good thing. I waited to join this forum due to the speed and promptness of posting. I'm only on once a day and replying to individuals will be hard, so I'm going to combine.
1. Paul, Unleashed didn't get cancelled due to poor sales. It was the best selling style of figures in years and it's value skyrocketed across the entire line until it was torpedoed due to high production costs. They retailed for $16 and the average figure was worth $25 to $45 on the secondary market. Some, like the stormtrooper, went from $16 retail to $50 secondary in weeks(he stayed there too, not like clear wraith; first at $80, now $30- weeks later). 2. Spacemonkey, yea, wow, you guys are meanies!!! I'm gonna tell my mommy that my tummy hurts so that she will send you all home. Then I can play with my snake mountain microphone by myself. Ha ha haaaaa!!!!!!!!!! Grizzlor on the M-I-C.... wikki wikki. 3. Batman- obviously the managers you know, don't care much about toys. The dude here has worked at wally for 10 years and as I already said "is a toy collector". He has a vested interest. I hope he's not correct about ordering less(hell, they already don't order much new product). 4.Open But, I do have to say, I would be worried about the movie hiatus etc. I've seen quite a few lines be hurt/killed due to the movie doing too good or poorly. Poor example = Hulk. When the 1st movie came out, it had a line that wouldn't sell, so guess what the suits did? they killed hulk classics because they thought since the movie stuff didn't sell, no hulk product would sell. Hulk classics was the best hulk line ever, period. Good example = Lord of the rings. The movie was so good and the toy line was great. So great that everyone associated those actors with those characters so deeply that you couldn't sell any other product but the movie stuff. So, bye bye toy vault figures. It was a great line, very book inspired. Came out first, rarer, and had exclusives. Worthless now and so is the movie figures for the most. I'm hoping this isn't the case with joes, but I'm seeing signs that aren't good and I've been collecting/selling toys for 11-12 years now. Even had a store back in '97. So, I do have experience with trends in action figures. Not trying to spread rumors, just thought this one should be somewhat out in the open. No matter what, there will always be a following, even if they don't make another figure from this day forth. Thank god for that. |
