i am wanting to customize some vehicles that the modern and old gi joes would fit in. but i am looking for real military vehicles to be the base, could my fellow tankers give me suggestions on what companies are good for customizing that fit these figures? i know they would have to be 1/18 scale but again not sure where to look.

just be prepared to shell out some cash on those. unless you wanna start with simple but not that close to "real" vehicles, then work your way up.

Keep an eye out for the 21st Century vehicles at your Wal-Mart. The Wal-Marts around my area had gotten a lot of these in before Christmas last year. After Christmas when they started stocking up the clearance isle, these were almost dirt cheap. I'm not sure if Wal-Marts will be stocking up this year like they did last, but I just wanted to give you a heads up.

"The Core" Vehicles are a good cheap fix and TRU has "Action Heroes", or whatever they are called. They are right next to or close to the Joe section.

TRU has True Heroes which are Joe scale, but they aren't all that authentic. They suffer from the oversized weapons, but they could probably be adapted fairly easily.
The Indiana Jones line of vehicles work as well.
