Re-packs.
its likely weve all seen at least one by now. last saturday, i found a FANG/CLAW pack that had a re-packed FANG pilot.....at least i thought i did. for more than a few seconds, i thought i was looking at a re-packed, normal cobra trooper sitting in the FANG. i thought, "well, since the original FANG had no "pack-in" figure and i put whomever i wanted in it, then my OCD wont kick in when i put whomever i want in this FANG." then i realized that the pilot was correct and the helmet had come off of his melon and was floating inside the box. the fact is, i was going to buy the set, thinking full well, that it had a re-pack. here's a set of questions i present to you tankers for consideration... if youre out, lets say, army building VAMPS, a vehicle that cannot have a clutch driving each one, (unlike a fully-uniformed HISS driver) and after many stops, you finally find a VAMP. problem is there is a re-packed driver in the box. knowing you will be replacing the driver anyway, do you buy it if..... there is another 25th joe figure in the package? or... there is a POTF '95 luke skywalker, spray-painted green, in the package? and at what point would you say..."forget it altogether"? and by the way... FANG is great...........CLAW is crap. |

Man, if someone put a regular viper and trooper in a FANG/CLAW box, I'd buy that junk in a heartbeat! Unless it is a quality figure (like Clutch) and the replacement is a 25th Joe, I would probably buy it.

Just comes down to how badly you want the original figure vs. how badly you want the "fan repacked" figure. In the case of the Fang/Claw I don't want either of the pilots and just about anything else would be preferred. In the case of the Firebat, I want 2 Firebats but 4 AVAC figs...So in other words if someone was dumb enough to stick 2 AVACs into the Fang Claw pack, I'd be in heaven.

If it was a decent figure that i wanted or wanted more than one of, it probably wouldnt bother me. Its like getting 2 things you wanted for the price of one, i'm all for that.

I wouldn't touch it. If they messed with the figure, who knows what else they did that I can't see from the outside of the package.
On the other hand, since I open my figures I do look for figures with bent cards (as long as the file card isn't bent). But I won't touch something that has obviously been tampered with. |
