I think the answer is clear. the new figures sell out immediately, like they did with smaller production numbers, and the Joe market isn't large enough to produce an amount of figures that keeps them on the shelves. that seems more of a problem in the market size for G.I .Joe, something collectors have been crying is huge and can meet the larger production size, not distribution. the distribution argument now is only a rationalization for collectors who are complaining they can't find the new figures now. that's a problem with collector behavior, not distribution. in two months, when wave 10 is clogging the pegs you, they will be complained about as well. |

it seems that distribution has improved and everywhere got the revision cases at relatively the same time, which people are complaining aren't selling. So clearly, consistent distribution isn't the problem and there are other factors.

I won't be buying any of the movie figures.
It's not because they're pausing the modern era line, I like to bitch and moan, or something so stupid and little as the card art. I'm not buying it because I don't want to see a Marlon Wayans head on a black powersuit toy and it be marketed to me as "G I Joe Ripcord". I don't want to see some Cobra Commander toy with that kid, Levitt's zitty face under the mask. So, if Hasbro gave me a Danny Devito doll in a commando suit and they tried to pass it off to me as "G I Joe Snake Eyes commando" does that make him snake eyes? Just because Hasbro is giving us some toys with some goofy actor's head on them, doesn't mean we have to bite and it is who they want it to be. And THAT is why I won't be buying the movie figures. Not sure when those A's to the Q's will be posted, but I don't think Destro could give us any clues if he wanted to. Probably has to wait for a certain date before he is allowed to release that info to the rest of us. I hope this group has more definitive answers than previous ones where we've had a lot of "We're looking into..." or "We'll have to see..." types of responses.
Although the hiatus will surely come before we get all the characters we want, I'll be welcoming the break. I'll be able to start saving some of my money again and maybe get a few Transformers I want to feed my plastic crack addiction during this period. I can understand Hasbro not wanting to sell two different lines which in essence would be competing with themselves, but they would be crazy not to return to the classic styled characters in the Modern Era line after the movie figs run their course. It's a smart business move for Hasbro to hold back some characters until then so those of us who only want this line will have a reason to resume collecting when it comes back. Not pointing out anybody but wait for this latest round to form opinions.

And to those of you who think the death of the line is the movie, your wrong! Look at Transformers Classics. Its only gotten better after the movie. Just hold off until Toy Fair for Movie Figure News. We are not going to get any idea until then.

well i wouldnt say tf classics got "better" after the move...just look at all the cybertron and energon repaints which make the characters look completely inaccurate...the best example being...."Blaster". Its nice to see like prowl, sunstreaker, BLUESTREAK(i'll never refer to him by that lame ass other name) and sideswipe and silver bolt and onslaught would have been better if they were actual combiners....then theres the white powerglide...wtf. is red so hard to make thim in? i mean is sunstreaker green? is prowl an brown and green? so aside from four of the classics..so far the line is rather un impressive at best.

The Onslaught and Powerglide are cool but the cost is to high. Still great figures. There is a WalMart Repaint that looks like a Stuntacon = perfect repaint. The line is selling and dead on what the fans asked for.

If the core base of fans decide they do not like the movie you will like the vehicles. Its going to be a great year. Everybody needs to chill out and enjoy the ride. Between Resolute and the G.I. Joe Movie 2009 will be the best year ever for the G.I. Joe Collector. The material we are going to get is going to blow you away.

then the town cryers will declare they won't buy the toys because they aren't on vintage explosive style cardbacks, regardless of the figures. the same people declared they wouldn't buy any figures after the 25tyh logo and foil design was dropped because the 25th logo was what they loved about the line.
they will cry, but they will buy. they always do. cool toys will always sell out because of collectors and scalpers. interest in the line is always better read by how the rest of the figures sell, not by how the best figures sell. your entire argument collapses under its own flawed premise. I just told you that the vast majority of the GI Joe 25th line is cool, and the only thing I ever see are the 2-3 peg warmers like Wild Bill and Cobra Commander with MASS Device piece. If Hasbro continued to churn out what the fans want (aforementioned figures + Skystrikers and Night Ravens), there would be no problems with sales whatsoever. NAME ONE HASBRO LINE FOR BOYS THAT WAS MORE POPULAR THAN GI JOE 25th THIS PAST FISCAL QUARTER IN RETAIL STORES. JUST ONE. Star Wars Clone Wars? They are everywhere I go. Incredible Hulk and Iron Man? Indiana Jones? Your argument is that GI Joe 25th is a pegwarmer throughout the Nation. I am again telling YOU that YOUR ARGUMENT is NONSENSE. I also telling you that I travel through the southeast all the time, and I cannot find ANYTHING related to GI Joe save a few repetitive molds that most people who love the line already have. You obviously live in a state where people don't have a strong love or particular care for the US military. That is the only logical reason as to why you have stores with GI Joe as the peg warmer toy. It would also explain a lot of other things about you in particular. I am asking you again, which state do you live in? Last edited by Bravestarr; 10-11-2008 at 12:49 PM.. |
