I hear you.
I think it's losing a tad bit of steam, at least creatively. I think unique single-figures are suffering due to more product being put out, and we're not getting as rich of waves as we were earlier, where nearly every character was new, even if they were built from existing molds. The newer waves are a tad disappointing, but they're also running out of earlier characters to release, while still not filling in all the guys who should be made already... Their decision-making on characters is getting a bit off now, if you ask me. Introducing new characters and second/third-tier characters are fine, as long as they just finish up the ones everyone's still REALLY wanting... I understand to offset vehicles, that they have to release more figures using existing molds, but their choices are what bother me... They have a LOT of parts to work with, and it seems sometimes they're not using their own parts as smartly as some of the customizers seem to do. I think its general enthusiasm/spirit, popularity, distribution, design choices, etc. mirror the Alternator line from TFs... They started out strong, but were hard as hell to find the good ones, they released a bunch of great figures and characters, but then started making weird character-choices while not some of the most important, then the line sort of fell off the face of the earth after some bad direct repaints that nobody wanted, and I'm sure the movie line took priority over it... ESPECIALLY when core, beloved characters were still needing to be made... Ironhide, Ratchet, and Bumblebee, I'm looking at you. I'm curious to see how the movie affects it. The TF movie killed my favorite line, I hope it doesn't happen with this. Last edited by Mandingo Rex; 10-09-2008 at 04:07 PM.. |

I'll try to keep steam behind the line so it keeps going, but if it dies.. it dies. Don't worry .. if you collect Star Wars, I am sure Lucas will damn sure keep you collecting. That's the only line I know that has been going strong since 97 or 98 when they relased the Power of the Force line.

When i go shopping i see full pegs of joes and right next to the joes there are cheaper figures and the pegs are empty. If i was just a regular customer buying a toy for my son i would sure go for the less expnesive figure. Keep raising the price and know one is going to buy them. Might as well make them neon again.
Im getting dissapointed with some of the new stuff like the figures that come with the fang/claw set and that lame zartan skier. I have stopped buying everything to only some.
