lol this thread has been a really entertaining read.
i don't have a significant other right now. i'm new to collecting joe's, and all my previous nerdy obsessions have been kind of easy to hide. there's just no hiding these joe's that are starting to pop up in my apartment! i kinda wondered how that would affect my chances with a new girl. but it's cool to see so many girls are okay with it. still, it'll be interesting to see reactions when a girl comes to my apartment now... lol |

my wife is so cool with it that sometimes me and her are racing eachother to the toy aisle. with target being her favorite store, she ends up hunting more than me. the only thing that bothers me is when she refers to my collection as "our collection" .

She is cool. I usually buy what I want but don't show her how many I actually buy. If I did she might be more on my back. I have a third child due this December so I might have to slow down....a bit. These days it sounds better investing in toys than stocks or 401k. I consider myself a collect of 4. Troop building is what makes it expensive for me.

My wife has always been cool with it and even told me to not buy online because that would take the thrill of the hunt away(that was a few years back when gas was affordable). My wife scored a bunch of Strawberry Shortcake from the 70's & 80's still in the box not mint and came home thinking I would be mad at her. I laughed and was stoked on the potential money we could make if we sold them there was alot of rare figures in the lot and she only paid 200 for 20 vintage figures. She never get upset with my purchases.

My wife says nothing about it. If she does there'll be hell to pay. Besides, she's too busy in the kitchen making my pot pie!!!
G/F #1 is cool with it. She likes it herself and even dresses up in sexy baroness clothes and likes to roll play a little classic Flint vs. Baroness... G/F #2 thinks it's stupid. However, she has no say. I make her look for my loot when she's out shopping. G/F #3 has no idea I collect. Keep your PIMP HAND strong, my friends. You just have to keep them in their place!

Hi guys! First post, love the site. I've just recently switched over my collecting focus from Star Wars to 'Joes. I am so stoked on the 25th line. Anyway, my girlfriend is very awesome and tolerates, even humors, my hobby. We often go on Target runs together where I check the pegs and she shops in the women's section. Every once in a while she'll accompany me to Toys R Us where she'll make funny comments about some of the toys I browse, like "That Millenium Falcon is ridiculous! You should get it!", or "That Indian guy (Spirit Iron Knife) is cute!"
All in all, her perspective helps remind me that this silly hobby of mine is essentially pretty silly. I'm a 33 yr old man playing with toys, ferchrissake. But thankfully she's pretty positive about it. |
