I've noticed many folks on here trying to sell their collections and their asking prices aren't too bad, also I've noticed ebay prices on things have cooled aswell. I know the obvious reason is due to the economy, but what are some other reasons do you suppose this is. My reasoning is the fact that
1. Hasbro/Target/Walmart/TRU keeps raising prices. 2. We're getting constant revisions and repaints. 3. Their future character selection doesn't look promising, (How many of yo guys are only buying ninja viper, and Blowtorch in the upcoming waves?) 4. Its becoming more a pain in the ass to drive around hunting, even though gas prices are slightly falling, BBTS and EE have proven to us, "yes it is possible, we get stuff before the big retailers". 5. Its getting to be more expensive for sub par product. That's all I got, what do you think? Last edited by Blaster'spunchingbagg; 10-09-2008 at 05:57 PM.. Reason: Misspelling |

The answer is no.
Ebay prices are still high for the "rare" figures. The GOOD thing Hasbro has done is made very few figures "rare". A few weeks ago CGs went for pretty good prices, now they're cheap again. Why? Hasbro re-released them. The line isn't losing steam. It's picked up steam. That's why things are the way they are. We're seeing an increase in product which means we're seeing it hang around on shelves longer. Have price raises, scalping and the economy hurt they line? No doubt. But it's a line that's getting stronger, not weaker. Remember this was a line that was supposed to have 25 figures. We're now close to 25 VEHICLES for this line. Don't fret just yet. |

Loosing steam???
This months has been dreadfull to keep up with hasbro shurning out of new Gi joe stuff and i aint even got the new senior officer 3 packs, exclusive 7 packs or new 5 packs. This month they hurt my wallet badly! As for future releases, they are bringing tunnelrat and some nice vehicules like the skyhawk so i'm still hopefull (if they do not do with him what they did to poor Falcon) as for driving around, i need to have mine shipped half way across the globe, because Crapbro dumped Europe (again...) As for sub par products, if they do away with duke's arms and retool the cobra soldier's to bend at least 90° and fix the viper's hands the quality impressing will go up. Hasbro make some poor rush decisions in the past, but they got teh money to correct them (if they want...) Last edited by firefox; 10-09-2008 at 05:23 AM.. |

I would bet to say, this line has out sold the past 80's lines, so many people collecting this line now its very hard to get your hands on it all.

I think the line remains healthy. It may be peaking out one wave of its popularity (which happens every time there is a delay in receiveing a wave of product), but I think there are many more to come. |

its like anything else, people pay huge amounts for things for a while then it slowly dies down a bit after more and more people are able to get what they want. Then something will hit to spark the interests of a new fan base (such as the movie) and the figs will pick up again for a while then slowly die back down. Then once they are all gone it will slowly creep back up again...and so on

Ebay has cooled for all but the rarest and newest simply because most everything else is available in the stores unlike 6 months ago. Frustration from repaints and hunting wouldn't make someone get rid of the original non-repaints they already hunted for on a declining market. That is just hard times.

I agree.
I used to drive miles on end just to find figures and NOW? I don't even care. If I find the wave I buy it. The prices are too damn rediculous and the quality has fallen substancially. Why is it that Joes are so damn expensive and Star Wars figs are the same price?
