And sadly because it is that easy, Hasbro will make Zap in wave 13, 15, and 18.

that's an awfully specious generalization. characters like Grid-Iron didn't kill the line. the market was changing, kids who made Joe a success in 82 were growing out of it by 1990, and characters like Grid-Iron were aimed at appealing to a different generation of kids, so it isn't as if the same customers dropped out because of these newer characters. there are many other factors you are ignoring to make your flawed argument against later characters. unless you can verify children in 1990 wanted the same "generic" green guys, and thus the "character" guys were the reason the line dwindled, and not the many other market or demographic reasons, you can't come to your conclusion.

Although I personally wouldn't buy a CPT Grid Iron myself, I hope he gets made for those of you that would. I'd like to scream "Noooo CPT Grid Iron!", but to be fair he wasn't part of my generation of Joe collecting as been pointed out. I'd also like to see a lot of other Joes made as well, but I fear time is running out for this line...

I'd wager more people would buy a Zap than a Captain Grid-Iron.
It was those "generic" green guys that ushered in the success... it was those guys "with character" that killed it. Likewise, you want a Captain Grid Iron? There's tons of football figures out now you can paint some camo on or something. I know it sucks to be in the minority, but there you have it. Venomfang... My CC was never an idiot. The cartoon didn't come first for many of us. The cartoon didn't even start until, like, a year later and the second wave had already completely shipped (I believe the third one already started, even). |

Listen,
Before everything here gets ugly. I guess many different characters appeal to many different people - it's what makes our global world wonderful and keep society from monotony. I have been around football all my life, as a player and coach. As a little kid, I liked my military seperate from my sports and I still do... I would like to see an updated 25th Zap, he was the first Joe I ever had, so I guess I could be bashed for wanting another greenshirt (let's hope Hasbro doesn't do that to us!). And in turn, all of you that want those sports referencing Joes from the early 90's then I have no right to argue with you. And anyway, I always thought Hardball was kind of cool... |
