Not a big CG fan, but at least this one looks battle ready which I can get behind. Wont look so goofy fighting in a formal uniform.

I love the Crimson Guard. I've got a ton of the 25th version.
Right now I'm not sure if I like this new one. The arms, chest, head and legs don't look like they fit well to me. Kind of an odd mix of parts. The shoulders stick out too far and the helmet is a weird shape. It's kind of funny that they swapped the skinny 25th CG legs for the skinny Alley Viper legs. They really didn't fix that problem. I hope that we get a chance to see this one in person. Who knows if the stores will be ordering Joe 2 toys by that point. |

Just like the POC/30th was a great update, this also has a lot of potential. Hopefully this version will look equally good without its vest (dress uniform) or with it (combat gear). I'm not crazy about them sporting Alley Viper legs, but all in all it is a step forward from the 25th. A Fred head would be a nice bonus feature. Also, I'm probably in the minority here but I've never liked black-uniformed Cobras (unoriginal and generic "bad guy" - keep the Troopers and Vipers in blue and the CGs in crimson). I might buy a Shadow Guard or an CG Immortal if they make one, but I'd confine my army building to standard ones (as the whole elite within an elite within an elite stuff gets kind of silly). Only repaint I'd be interested in seeing are blue uniformed versions of Tomax and Xamot. |

This and this. Even i have 3 or 4, just because they sneaked on the cases i buy, so i wasn't desperate about a new CG. This version is not really a new one, just a kitbash: -PoC Shock Trooper arms -25th CG torso -apparently the same- -25th Wraith upper legs -25th Alley Viper lower legs -New head. And it looks weird, indeed. I agree it's a aimed at collectors along the Night Viper, but i don't think it's going to be a big seller. First, it doesn't looks too good. Second, is not useful as fodder. (old parts still available cheaper, and not so useful red color) Third, MoC collector won't want the Retaliation card.

The visor looks like it goes across his nose. Maybe the head's just looking down or something.
Not a bad use of parts overall, PoC Trooper arms, Edit: Hmm, guess it is the 25th CG torso, Ninja Snake-eye legs... Last edited by Hicks_Royel; 02-13-2012 at 03:48 AM.. |

I only plan on getting one of these. I like the 25th Crimson Guards and I have plenty of them.
I rather Hasbro go with the ver 7 look. I liked that one the most. YOJOE.COM | Crimson Guard v7

That version 7 DTC one is by far my favorite update of this figure. I agree that Hasbro couldn't have gone wrong if they had used that design for the Retaliation figure.

I wonder why hasbro didn't do something like the crimson guard immortal?
http://www.yojoe.com/action/91/91card/cgimmortal.jpg they could make it similar to the regular crimson guard and just make the armored web gear attachment to go over it. and just color swap the helmet, or better yet give us too. I really like the weapon he comes with two. I think this new one though is just too similar to the other. I thought the 25th crimson guard were already great and I have tons of those and the python crimson guard so I don't need any others unless they change something up. I wouldn't mind having the shadow guard though. that would be awesome. |
