Hear me out then let me know what you think. I don't think the movie line will be as popular as contining on with the modern era. The modern era is based on the cartoon characters we loved as kids, the popularity of this line will continue as more characters get released, namely Mindbender and the rest of the dreadknoks for starters. The figures are also designed to look like the characters from the cartoon. That is the biggest appeal to the line. As far as my predictions on the movie line, the start will probably go over well. Number one figure will be Snake eyes! But after that does anyone care to have another Duke, but this time with the head of Tatum, or whatever his name is. So we get a lot of figures that won't look like they are suppose to. I'd buy a Mindbender from the movieline if that's the only one ever coming out. If the figures from the movie are going to look like the actors, they should have casted better people.

i see what you're saying and i get it, but what it comes down to is these are toys. toys are for kids, and the movie is going to be exposing a new generation to the brand which is cool, so long as hasbro doesn't forget about us nerds.
I remember when my dad saw my joes and asked if they were army men, and i said no, they're g.i. joes. and he just looked at them and said "no, they're not. That's not G.I. Joe." It wasn't "his" g.i. joe, and "our" joe's might not necessarily be todays kids joes. So yeah, Having a new batch of kids playing with joes is cool. Hasbro kept the 12" line going for the past fans, and hopefully they'll keep it going for us too.

It all depends on how well the movie is received/does. Will it generate sequals, which translates to more toys. I believe (don't hold me to it) that IDW is going to do a comics line based on movie continuity.
So we could end up with 2 lines of G.I.Joe, modern era and movie. It works for Star Wars, there are tons of different "lines" of SW toys based on movies, comics, cartoons, past, etc... The Clone Wars toy line didnt' interfer with the Legacy, Expanded Universe and other lines. It added to it. I see the same thing with G.I.Joe depending on how the movie does. Alot rides on that.

I don't get the impression that movie is a kids movie though so I'm not sure how this will translate to sales for the movie figures. It's a movie about what was a kids toy, but I think teens and young adults are what might go see this (and us collector types). I don't plan on buying much if anything from the movie specifically. I, like many of you, are interested in remakes of the figures we loved as a kid. I may get a couple things here and there depending on how they look and what exactly is released. I will see the movie, but I don't have high expectations for it.

The movie line is going to sale and sale big if the Movie does good....kids will of course want toys to play with....and before you judge the line at least wait till you see pics........Im sure once you see pics of Snake Eyes....and Storm Shadow most of you will change your story and hunt these down also.........Besides new molds will help the ones who make customs be able to make more and different customs.
