Hail, there!
I've been looking all over the 'net for GI Joe dioramas that have any "water" on them - I mean, dioramas that show ships, boats, submarines, divers and the like in water or around water. These ones are great, but they are some of the few (and notice they all use the very same dock): TroopersCobraVehicles1. I've seen some others in JoeDios, but not that many - and the ones that show any water at all do it as landscape, but not actually as part of the scene in and on itself. Has any of you ever built (or ever seen, or has pics of, or links to) "water" dioramas? Thx! |

I have seen a few done for other stuff ( not joes). If you are not set on using real water, there is a productvthat is sold by the roll that is a silicone type gel (think about a thick glossy blue fruit roll up) it is sold in texas by Michael's Craft store. You might have to carve hull space out prior to applying the water, but this material would work great under flat bottom boats, hovercrafts, and the flag. I am wary of using real water due to the potential rust and decal issues that it may pose long term.

this stuff works good.
Realistic Water 16 oz (wooc1211) Woodland Scenics Model Train Scenery Mold & Accy but it's expensive, you just pour it on and it levels itself. You cand add pigment to it, and dry smaller strips to make whitecaps on top of it. I've used this and I like it. E-Z Water 16 oz (wooc1206) Woodland Scenics Model Train Scenery Mold & Accy Never tried these, but you could make a cut for a Moray or whatever and make it look decent w/ some good paint work. Agitated Blue Water (pls91802) Plastruct Model Train Scenery Miscellaneous I've been trying to come up with some way to use this stuff for an Eel diorama, for when they come out. But I haven't figured out a way that will work yet. (without permanently fixing the figure in the water anyway.) Here's a 12" Eel Dio that a guy did for one of the Joecons that I think is sweet:

That Dio is verynice. My question is does that "Real Water" damage the figures at all?

that dio is sweet. Please don't get the idea that I made it, b/c I didn't. It was in the 2007 Joecon dio pics. I don't know if Real Water would damage the figure, I wouldn't think it would, it's really just glue. The problem would be that you would have to tear the dio apart to get the fig out if you wanted to.

Funny that you mention this, I am working on a modified Moray project and was planning on taking some test shots in the pool to see how they turned out.
I may even get one of those cheap disposable water proof cameras for some underwater shots once the updated Shark and Deep Six come out. One of the nice things about living in FL. .
