I have a question. What do retail stores like Wal-Mart, Target, etc. do with peg warming Joes that don't sell? I was at a local retail store this weekend, and they had 8-10 Wild Bills, and hardly anything else. If no one buys these, what does the store do with them?

They either clearance them, sit on them forever, or sell them cut rate to places like Tuesday Morning or Ross.

i wonder that myself. I have thought about taking them and putting them all in a basket and stashing them behind something so they restock the pegs with new stuff.

There's a WM nearby that still has an endcap full of Transformer Movie deluxe figures that haven't been moving. They'll be there when the sequel comes out unless they cut them down to like $5 or less

Walmart will sit on them forever. They can't clearance just Wild Bill because they all share the same walmart item #'s(I think). If I'm right, lets say they scan Bill and mark him down to $4. That means that Hawk, BATS, Cg's etc are all now $4. I'm not sure about Target but the one close to my house has had the same 4 Buzzers for almost 9 months now.

Back in the early eighties when I and the local neighborhood kids first got into joes, Baroness and Blowtorch and Tripwire were peg warmers here.
The rumor got around that the joes that didn't get bought up went back to Hasbro and they burned them. But it was ridicolous, why would Hasbro do something like that? Needless to say, there were several kids who bought up 3 or 4 of the same joe if they found it hanging on a peg for a while just to keep it from being burned. As I got older I heard that sometimes when things went on clearance and then still didn't sell, retail stores would donate them to Goodwill and so on, but I don't know if that's true. Maybe. Sab |

stores won't take a loss untl they have to and on some merch they just ship it back for credit rather then take a loss and then it may go to places like deedees, macfrugals or tuesday mornings.

lol it wouldn't matter at walmart. They would still be in the pysical inventory in there computer. Most walmarts are run on there POS replenishment system. What that means is there is a order point for each item. For example: Lets say they can fit 24 joes on the shelf. The order point would be around 2 or 3. So once they sold 20 joes then a order would be placed for another 16. They never order more than the shelf capacity and never order enough to fully fill it. Now the exceptions are: If a manager came through and did an exception order. So if they walk by and see empty or near empty pegs and they show none on order, then they would place a manual order. That manual order still needs to be approved by corporate and 60-70% of the time that order gets denied to keep inventory levels down. The other one would be if they scan it and it shows 18 in there inventory. Then they check the stockroom and only find 8. So there missing 10, now they can perform an onhand change that still needs to be approved by the store manager.
