Plus we got Slaughter's Marauders and Night Force. Repaints, yes, but awesome themes. Last edited by Hicks_Royel; 10-30-2007 at 09:01 PM.. |

Okay, so here's a somewhat obvious question. If we've already seen "customs" of past GI Joe figures done in the 25th style (Airtight, Zarana, Lifeline, Shockwave, Leatherneck, Alley Viper, et. al.) does this mean we'll eventually be seeing these sprinkled in with various upcoming waves?
It seems logical that they were created on 'spec' for 2007, to either generate interest in the line and or have on hand in case the line took off. As the line has officially taken off, I wonder how long it will be before these guys show up? |

I wouldn't be surprised if these guys show up if the line continues past 2008 (which I really think it will now). Although I think the final versions might actually use more original pieces than the customs shown at Comic-Con did. Slaughter is the only guy that we might have to make ourselves. Which doesn't look too hard to do (Gung Ho head; Roadblock Chest, torso and arms; Destro legs; and Cobra Trooper's belt. The hat, whistle and shades are custom-made it appears).

You really think it will take until beyond 2008 before we see some of the figures I mentioned? The sculpts appear already complete, so why wait so long to release them? I mean, I'd much rather see Shockwave than some obscure Red Ninja character who only appeared in the comics, and wasn't included in the original 1980's Joe lineup anyway. Granted, I realize he's a Storm Shadow body, and it took very little for Hasbro to use existing parts to throw him together, but, well, hopefully you see where I'm going with this. |

raptor was awesome. i always used him as my scout back in the day and as a scout trainer. i want reissues of the majority of figures. i was born in 82 so the original joes (which i owned) were never my favorite. i was into the 87-91 timeline more or less.

also topside was a great figure. it had a nice sculpt and awesome accessories. looked awesome all decked out with the missle pack. ill give you guys stretcher. he kind of sucked.
the worst 1990 fig imo was bullhorn and that was just because of the dumb bullhorn he came with. his look was sweet though with the camo and mask.

there's a limited number of slots to fill, and the 82-86era has the advantage of being the most recognizeable to the 'cartoon crowd' at 5 figures a wave and a wave aproximately every 2 months that's only 30 figures for next year (and we already no one of the first wave is a redeco of '82 snake-eyes) so if you factor in one redeco or alternate version of a character (like IG Destro or armoured CC) per wave, we're just NOT going to get a decades worth of figures out of this line (especially when the focus will shift, most likely unless the strike pushes it back, to the movie line in the first half of 2009) obviously, the comic packs will bolster that a bit, but even there we're only getting 4 new characters in the first 2 waves. but to Hasbro's credit, while i could personally due without a few (serpentor anyone?) i think they've been making some solid choices in the line up. now if i could find Firefly....

The 1991 lineup of the original series was great.
Dusty V3 (with the beret and the wolf) Sci-Fi V2 (dark gray with the rocket launcher) Big Ben Crimson Guard Immortal Desert Scorpion Some of the best figures in the line right there. I wouldn't mind seeing a Dusty V3 or Sci-Fi V2 in 25th Style But that said, I think a V1 Dusty or Sci-Fi would probably be more popular. |
