Just a question I've been wondering about. I collect loose toys. I like to pry the packages open and play with them and display them.
Now I get MOC collectors, they like the card art and displaying the thing on the wall...etc...
What I dont get are people who collect vehicules but leave them in the box. With figures, you can still look at the figs I guess, but with vehicules, it's just a box...
Can you perhaps explain what makes it worth to you? Is it just for future value?
thanks!

So keeping them MIB is cool to me. One of these days, I will display my loose ARAH joes that I had as a kid. So of course, they are loose. I wish I had some of them MIB and MOC!

So, I think keeping it in the box until a day comes that I might open them is a good way to store them. And, if I ever get tired of it and want to sell it off, it will fetch a better price than loose.
But, inherently the fun of collecting for some is just in having a collection itself and not necessarily from 'playing' with it. Even if I were to open them I wouldn't spend much time playing with it, so at some point one might decide to simply keep it in the box. The only downside is if you happen to get a defective one with 2 left or 2 right wings as is what happened to some with the Black Dragon

I really don't have much space to store figures and vehicles, so opening them really isn't an option for me. I'm satisfied with staring at the card art and the figure together, makes it more complete, also!! Then there is the resale side of things, so when I'm tired of storing them I can sell them for more money! I guess it all comes down to me not playing with my Joes, but I love to collect them and display them wherever I can.

I'm talking about the SDCC Starstriker with CC.

But mostly loose. If a deal falls in my lap for something sealed i will take it. But I dont hunt them down.

As far as aesthetics I can see keeping any of the 25th stuff in box as some are designed for display anyway, but even the Target exclusives like the PP Conquest and Tiger Rat are good candidates for MIB collecting because of the retro look to the art. However, the ROC and to some extent the POC (even though it was an improvement over ROC) aren't that hot IMO to look at MIB/MOC. Now with the 30th stuff I can see more reason to keep them sealed.

I have several moc figures though, mostly Marvel Comics stuff. The only MOC Joe I have is a 30th Stalker. I have 10 or 11 MOC MU figs and a Carnage from Toy Biz' Spider-Man Maximum Carnage sub-line. I like having MOC MU because I love comics and the card art is pretty. Except for the wave that Simone Bianchi drew. I don't like his art.
