Here's a solution to fixing this problem.
1st Pic: Cobra Trooper on a lean. 2nd Pic: You will need a pair of jewelry pliers. These pliers are used on jewelry because they do not have the groves most pliers have to grip objects. This minimizes scratching when working on jewelry. Therefore when you use them on the figure it will not leave an imprint on the figure. 3rd Pic: Crimp the figure as shown in the pic. You will need to crimp the leg in different places more than once to achieve the desired length. This causes the plastic to stretch while maintaining the integrity of the plastic. After you crimp you will see a noticeable indention in the figure, but do not worry, the plastic will gradually reshape itself. Do not crimp over the joint area (refer to pic). 4th Pic: A Sober Cobra Trooper.

You are very welcome! I hate to tell you this, but you will have this problem. I ordered 20 of these and have another 15 on the way. Of the 20 I have in hand, I've opened 10 and everyone has the same issue. So its a 99.999% chance yours are the same. I ruined 4 of these troopers attempting different methods to fix this issue. Each method involved an exacto knife, sand paper and glue. The results were very noticeable and unsatisfactory. The good thing is that this fix does work and the endresult is not visible (most important thing). So, I guess the 4 troopers were necessary casualties being that all future troopers can be fixed and maintain their awesomness, lol. Not to mention any other figures that have the same flaw.

Won't the plastic gradually reshape itself and the leg will shorten up again? If not, this is awesome. Thanks, either way. I haven't seen a fix before this.

It won't reshape itself into the original size. I applied this method last night and the figures are still standing straight.

First, kjl2381, thank you first posting this! I have an otherwise pretty great Retaliation Ninja Dual Snake Eyes, but his left leg is shorter. I took his legs off to see if I could straighten his T-bar, but it wouldn't budge, so your solution might do the trick! That being said, please don't be offended by what I ask next, because I really don't mean any offense by it:
To everyone else who reads this, have you tried this method? I see responses from people who say they will try it, but has anyone actually done it? I'm a little scared that I might not have the finesse of kjl2381, and I might ruin my figure. Thank you! Steve. |

Ok, so the newness wore off my figure to the point that I wouldn't be devastated if I ruined it, so I did this procedure on my Ninja Dual Snake Eyes. It was neither a total loss nor a complete success. I first tried it as described, and the short leg didn't grow one bit. Maybe I didn't do it right. So, frustrated, I got out a blow dryer. I put some hot air on that leg for a while, and I figured out that a G.I. Joe leg can get downright floppy very quickly. So that was a little overkill, but it did soften the leg such that my pliers could crimp the leg and stretch it. I worked on it a while, and the leg did get longer, but I got scared and quit before it stretched enough to make him stand perfectly straight. As it is, maybe 2 weeks after the procedure, that leg is still a little shorter and is obviously thinner than the other where I crimped it. But he does stand straighter, maybe even to the extent that the average person wouldn't notice him leaning. I might try again to get that extra length added to the leg, but I might not, since that leg is already a little thinner than the other. Oh, and ever since I did this, it seems like he's a little harder to get balanced in a standing position, but then again, he was hard to balance before as well, so maybe that's not a result of the leg lengthening.
