So Hasbro scrapped a bunch of unique Channing Tatum heads when POC was re-purposed without actor likenesses. With Tatum back in GI Joe 2, who thinks they may may revisit some of the scrapped heads like the original Jungle Assault Duke, canned Arctic Threat Duke or even the Training Duke we never saw past the proto stage?
Colors & constructs may change, but this maybe an opportunity for Hasbro to invest less in new Tatum heads & use some of the canned ideas already produced... thoughts? |

I kinda hope they don't. Not because I didn't like the ROC stuff. I just don't think it's necessary to have actor likenesses for the toys.

I also would not be at all surprised if we got at least the Arctic Assault Duke under the Retaliation banner. Maybe the training Duke but that's more of a long shot. Unfortunately there's about a snowball's chance in hell of the only unmade RoC figure I'd like to see ever making it to shelves (Reactive Armor Breaker). Why they went for the rather boring Breaker figure they produced first will forever remain a mystery to me. Last edited by Jmacq1; 11-15-2011 at 09:31 PM.. |

I hope not...one of the biggest problems people hated were the actor style heads.
Personally I didn't hate them...but it was one of the reasons product sat on shelves. |

There were very few decent actor heads on the ROC figures, but there were a couple. The unmasked Storm Shadow head was probably the best. I'd like to see what Hasbro could do at this point, because they've become much better in the last couple of years. Honestly though, I'm just not into movie figures really, I'm pretty limited with what I like, and the majority of the time non-movie figures just have better headsculpts. So no, I don't want to see them reuse old cancelled molds, I'd rather they not do much movie likeness', but if they do I'd hope it's new sculpts at least.

The actor likeness is a pretty low priority for me. If a movie figure has great articulation, weapons, cool outfit and a great "classic" looking head then it's a win all around.

And from a consumer standpoint, the "sameness" of the line (the heavy use of black, blue, grey/silver and white on figures from BOTH factions) was probably a bigger issue than the use of actor likeness heads. But Jmaq nailed it, Hasbro still has the actor likeness heads, they WILL use them if they can and if they make sense within the concepts of the film (unless we get a training sequence, I don't see a need to reuse the training Duke figure we saw, but even a short arctic sequence, even if Duke isn't present, will give incentive to use the Arctic Duke figure)

Remember back in the day when an actors likeness could not be used if under contract with another company? Wonder if this means anything for the Rock/roadblock figure?
