There are a TON of characters (obviously) that we haven’t seen and still want…and we all know how Hasbro LOVES a repaint or kitbash to save costs…
So I was thinking…what characters could not only be done in this way but accurately…and with very little effort…AKA…the No-Brainers. Dr. Mindbender: I just KNEW we’d get him in the Arise, Serpentor, Arise DVD pack…but we get that stupid skeleton instead? C’mon Hasbro. Gung-Ho torso, Cobra trooper or Red Star legs and a new head…plus some new web gear. NO BRAINER Monkeywrench: Again…Gung-ho’s entire body…you could even just re-color his vest…modify the DTC Monkeywrench head or make a new one…throw on a new grenade laden bandolier…NO BRAINER Salvo: Wave 9 Sgt. Bazooka mold with a new head and helmet. NO BRAINER Rip-Cord: Beachhead/Firefly torso with Snake Eyes' (v1) apendages and the jump gear from the DVD Pack Cobra Para-trooper with a new head, helmet and oxygen mask. NO BRAINER. Footloose: Take your pick from the Viper, Dusty, Shipwreck or Duke torso with TF Flint arms and Major Barrage head…you could even get by with the same helmet from Sgt Bazooka (and his LAW) or possibly the one from DTC Footloose. NO BRAINER. (NOTE: This body construction SHOULD have also applied for Leatherneck.) Recondo: Virtually the same recipe as above with a new head and hat. I’ll take him ANY way I can get him. NO BRAINER. Crosshair: Again…new head but same recipe with his trademark Boonie hat and a Gilley suit to hide the parts reuse. NO BRAINER. Cutter: I know they already attempted this…but for God’s sake just throw a new head on him with a VvV Gung-Ho hat…NO BRAINER. Road Pig: Same Gung-ho recipe with new shoulder pads, head and probably lower legs. NO BRAINER (ok…maybe a BIT of a stretch but still) Generic Cobra Snow-trooper/Arctic Cobra Commander (from the Movie): Parka Snake Eyes’/Artic Tele-Viper torso with Best Of DVD pack heads. NO BRAINER. Zap: I mean…really? We already have this combo in use in various forms…give the kid a new head and call it a day but for Pete’s sake give him an actual bazooka and not an RPG. NO BRAINER. Single Pack Breaker: I know…this is nitpicky because we’ve already gotten him twice…but leave off the gum and give us his old backpack. I mean…is it really plausible that the same backpack that powers a laser will work with a com headset? NO BRAINER. Single Pack Silver Pads Grand-Slam: we can get an Air Trooper and Duke (not to mention Stalker and Starduster) with JUMPS but not the original owner?? And THEN you pack him as an exclusive with a SHARC repaint? C’mon Hasbro!!!…NO BRAINER. Python Patrol: we have ‘em all already just repaint in a multi-pack and make it an online exclusive. NO BRAINER. (also holds true to a degree for TF and Slaughter’s Marauders) Shockwave: Viper torso with comic pack Firefly vest and Beachhead/Armored CC head…VvV Gung-Ho cap…throw in the shield from the con set for good measure. NO BRAINER. Steel Brigade: this guy was a kitbash as an original…I mean c’mon…we even have the same combo of parts existing (or coming soon) in the 25th line and recently used helmets in the VvV TRU exclusive Anti-Venom and Plague Trooper sets. NO BRAINER. Single Pack Tele-Viper: 'Nuff said. NO BRAINER. Covergirl: Comic pack head, arms, vest and possibly legs (i don't know if this works) with Lady Jaye torso. NO BRAINER. Outback: last but not least…the ULTIMATE no brainer. Sgt. Bazooka mold with the DTC (unreleased wave/collector’s club) head. They already have it ALL. Just DO IT!! I would have rather had ANY of these than that lack of effort Leatherneck that’s coming (Buzzer? He has a skull on his belt!! SERIOUSLY?)…any of these would be much better IMHO. Anything I missed??? I love this thread and I love your ideas. I agree that repaints seem to be the way that Hasbro is going (much to the chagrin of the collectors) so why haven't they jumped on some of these ideas quicker...? I wish I could have printed this thread to hand to Hasbro at Comic Con... Someone should seriously get this to them ASAP!

i don't understand what the big deal is about new molds, the original ARAH line had tons of mold rehashes. half of the 1989 line were just repaints of previous years and 1989 was a great year. the whole history of ARAH is filled with great characters made from reused body parts.
i have no problem with the reused parts if the figure looks awesome who cares who's legs and arms they cannabalize. |

I was hoping this thread would turn into more of a brainstorming outlet for new, easily done figures...and not a debate on the reuse of molds or when we'll get something...
i guess that's my fault... ...on another note...i want Blowtorch too. and in a new mold. |

if using Shipwreck's torso, Cobra Troopers arms, and Duke legs for Keel Haul, which work perfectly, means getting a new sculpted Blowtorch, which can't be made with existing parts, that's what I want to see. |
