Can Hasbro still produce figures done by GIJoe Club?

Pardon my ignorance gents...the reason I asked is because I sure would like to have Footloose and Jinx but since I live outside the US, having a GIJoe Club membership is out of the question...so, since GIJoe Club has first dibs on the said figures, will this deprive Hasbro to produce Footloose and Jinx in the future?

I really would like to know, is Hasbro really that tolerant with GIJoe Club?

Hasbro can still do whatever they want.

That the Club makes a figure does lessen the chances that Hasbro will do something with that figure, but Hasbro could completely ignore everything the Club does and do what they want.

It's the Club that can't make anything without Hasbro's okay.

They're Hasbro's property, they own the characters so yes. The only thing I'm not sure of is whether or not they'd be able to use the molds for any heads that the club designed. I'd guess legally no, but to keep a good relationship between the 2 I'm sure the Club would allow them.

Hasbro has been known to do things that Fun Pub have done in the past just Differently (IE: Classics Thundercracker, Thrust and Dirge)

If you mean the exact same figures, then i don't think so.

Jinx is in the movie, so i guess we'll get some version of her one way or another.
Footloose had a RoC version, and the Club version is the classic, so if we get another, it will be again a movie styled one.

Typically, whatever the club comes up with for the "Free" figure and the sets/extras all have to be approved by Hasbro prior to anything being made. After Hasbro gives the ok. then the club puts forth the motion to have these made in whatever quantity they deem a good amount and or how many they think they can sell and hopefully sell out of. Which up until last year they have never sold out of a set. So not sure if that is good or bad news.. The good.. they make more this year.. the bad.. since that was a good target number to sell out of, they make the same amount this year.

anyway.. after it get the ok.. they pay hasbro a magic number to have X many figures made, then hope they sell out and make their money back with a little bit of profit on the side to make up for packing and shipping the items to the con, hotel stay, leasing the room for the con, special guest, the sets, extras, T-shirts, hats, pins, name tags.. and what ever else they are forking money over for. So will Hasbro make something that they gave a thumbs up to the Club to make. Hell yes. They want a bigger piece of the pie.. if the club sells out of something in limited quantity.. then worldwide retail will make a whole lot more for them. Of course there will be changes, however subtle.. LOL

Yeah I'd say if club is doing it its because Hasbro likely said, yeah we have zero plans for such and such go ahead.

BUT I wouldn't be suprised to see if Hasbro got the bug somehow that they would easily make any character they wanted to if club did it or not.

I'd imagine they would do SOMETHING to make it differant in some way, because I doubt they wanna undercut the club's hard work completely.

I also doubt any of the club scuplting would be used by Hasbro...odds are they would just do a sculpt they own outright...BUT I'd like to think that since Hasbro and the Collectors Club have been coperative for all these years and since the club has made use of Hasbro molds that if Hasbro did see something they liked that the door would swing both ways and it would just be common courtesy.

By the way this brings me to the question does the CC have to buy molds from Hasbro for their use or are they simply loaned on good faith?

I'd imagine they're just loaned to the Club. I haven't looked for any particular examples but I'm sure we've seen molds that were used by Hasbro, then used by the club, then re-used by Hasbro (Tripwire/Flash torso might be an example)

If improved versions of those Python figures that the club offered come out, I don't see anyone ever going for the club stuff when all they can do is wait a little bit and then see a better version with the better arms and helmets come out.

It would be logical to abide.
