This may already be a thread and I apologize if it is.
Do most of you prefer pre-ordering figures or waiting until they are released and then tracking them down however long that may take? Personally I like the hunt as they can lead to more attachment to the figures and sometimes some cool stories. But I travel a lot so it is easier to hit up different stores and different supply and demand markets. But due to my recent location the preorder looks more and more appealing but seems like the easy way out. Just curious as to anyone else’s views. Happy hunting.

I used to enjoy the hunt when I could find at least 1 fig a week but after going about 2 months without finding anything except buzzer I lost that joy. Now I don't hunt at all, I'll check the toy isle if I happen to be getting cat food or whatever but I don't go out of my way anymore.

When I started getting the 25th line my friend and I would go to stores to hunt but it took too many trips to ensure that we got two of each figure (one for each of us).
Now I have been lucky enough to get the two of each figure on HasbroToyShop so we do that instead. We still stop in stores for exclusives or for our extra troop builders though. So far that has been working out well. We're not massive army builders so eventually we come across the eight of each trooper (four each)that we are looking for.

if there are a lot of figures in the wave that I want I will pre-order (i.e. wave 10) but if there is only 1 or so that I want, I'll just wait and track it down eventually. I gave up on hunting a while back, it's more like: If I'm out and I find something, cool:great, but I'm not going out specifically to look for joes. And Hasbro really has amped up the distribution, so it's just a matter of waiting for the "hunters/gatherers" to get their fill and then they're all over the place.

I certainly see the appeal of pre-order (I happen to be in a very stagnate Joe market currently). But when I am in the states I can usually have 3 states covered at once. The one I am in, Florida, and one my recently addicted coworker is in. The “buy one for your buddy” situation can often be quite the moral dilemma. “I found this Snow Serpent, it should be mine…”. It seems sad that you guys have quit hunting because of poor supply. But I guess if there was enough to go around it wouldn’t be much of a hunt either.

I still enjoy the hunt I have found 2 of every figure from wave 1 to wave 9 at retail without a ton of trouble. The hunt to me is half the fun of collecting Joes.

The only thing I'm having trouble with right now is wave 5 comic packs because all the stores around me are flooded with wave 1,2, & 3 c.p.'s so they aren't ordering new stock.
I also joined here to help others and to get help finding Joes, these boards make it so I usually know when to go out to look for the newest wave. |

Not only do I enjoy the hunt, but I like the satisfaction of buying from the retails.
However, if its one of those "Online" exclusive only deal, then there's nothing to argue about. |
