You know, I never thought about it before, but maybe this is part of the reason why he never seemed to "fit" the Joe Universe to me. Now that you mention it, I'm not so sure that a drill instructor really does fit with the GI Joe team.
Sure, it seems like it should, from a military standpoint. But, when you've got shirtless karate fighters, parrot carrying sailors, freakishly large brutes that speak in rhymes, yee-hawing cowboy pilots, chest-baring, vest wearing, Villiage People dressed marines, and a complete lack of any uniformity of dress code, from baseball jersies to hawaiian shirts, does the Joe team really look like they've ever been under the tutillage of such a characature of an Army drill Instructor? On a side note, I had hoped Sgt would be the 2008 SDCC exclusive figure, instead we got CC in his Sunday go to meeting suit. |

HAHA! This is great stuff. I am totally for a Sarge figure. In fact, I got so antsy I made a custom one. He has also been a part of the joe canon in my brain so it just fits. I don't even really make the connection to the wrestler so much as the character...who was the shining beacon of awesome in the movie.

The Sarge is actually one of only four action figures I REALLY want in the 25th/Modern style-along with Pythona and Jinx to complete a display of Falcon, the Sarge and Jinx confronting Serpentor, Nemesis Enforcer and Pythona from the movie.
I see no reason why they couldn't make one and just call it "GIJOE SERGEANT" or something like that. They could make the face different enough to defend in copyright court. |

I think it would be a great idea. Slaughter is iconic IMHO.

Man that had me laughing hard! But I think you're on to something. We need Sarge just to get those slackers into shape and inject some uniformity. Village people HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
On a side note, I had hoped Sgt would be the 2008 SDCC exclusive figure, instead we got CC in his Sunday go to meeting suit. |

The only reason he was a "Shining Beacon" Was because Hasbro paid for his likeness so they had to put him in every scene........ Slaughter Sucks.......... |
