I just read one of the questions and answers from the Q & A over at joesightings.com
Here is the link... Hasbro Q & A Round 3 - The Answers! - Joesightings.com Forums Take a look at Question #3... "3) I'd like to know more about how Habsro re-builds classic G.I. Joe vehicles. Nearly every one we have seen looks to be mostly old favorites with some slight updates or changes to accomodate new figures. Can you tell us how you select them, what process you go through to address changes and updates to the classic mold designs and if there are any classic vehicles you simply cannot consider and why? The process to choose vehicles to update is based on what molds are available and what the design team thinks that can do to make it better. If something is not available, like the SkyHawk or Water Moccasin, we then make it from scratch using the original as inspiration. If it is available, like the VAMP, the team looks at what they can add to make it even better." ----------------------------------------------------------------- If Hasbro is making new vehicles from scratch using the original as inspiration, maybe there is hope for a Skystriker even though the mold has been broken and lost. I know many people have asked for one, and Hasbro might have even said we are not getting one, but this news shows that there still might be some hope.

I am waiting for that too. From what I heard from other thread that I posted, if they do, it will not be F-14. That's suck. It will be F-22 or F-23. I wonder how F-22 or 23 look on USS Flag?

I still do not understand the fascination with the Skystriker. Ok, so it was a very cool jet in its time. Then again, so were a lot of other jets, like the Raven. Personally, I'd love to see Hasbro throw it's efforts into giving us a more modern Skystriker than making a mold for an aircraft that's currently only in service in Iran.

AHA! I thought that new Skyhawk was a completely new mold!

I suspect Hasbro and retailers won't take a chance on a vehicle as large as the Skystriker as it's price point will be higher than many casual buyers will pay. The Ultimate Battle Pack is an exception, but we know it will be constrained in availability and the items are all repaints (except the MOBAT, which we wish would be retooled). So it's not much of an investment for Hasbro.
But a skystriker or other large vehicle would be. $15-25 should be the price point. Most vehicles I see for any line above that price sit around until clearance time. |
