Hello all. I posted this question on the yo joe boards also. I am loving these 25th ann. figures just as much as everyone else. I had almost every figure from 83 till about 87 or so when i was a kid and played them to death. So to see these updated versions makes me feel that age again. The question i am asking is are we just going to get another year of these then just movie crap afetr that? I really, really want to see this line going on for years to come. I want all me old joes and cobras remade. Well if anyone has an answer or guess please feel free to post. I just found my first set of wave 3 at target yesterday and they are the best yet. YO JOE!!

To my understanding we will get 25th stuff until Fall 08. Then they are concentrating on the movie stuff.

I agree with you whole-heartedly. I got my first Joe in '83 when I got the H.I.S.S., MOBAT and Tripwire for my birthday. I stopped collecting in '88 and really hope this line goes on past 2008. I think there is definitely enough demand to warrant it. But it's up to Hasbro to listen to us collectors obviously and only time will tell. I really hope after the movie is released that GI Joe hits big and we can see this new line continue for at least 2 or 3 years. It would be cool to see all of the figs from '82-'91 re-made (I didn't collect from '89-94, but looking on YoJoe.com it is clear the line's last decent year was 1991. After that it turned to $hit. Although, there are a few cool looking Cobras from those last few years.

Of course, that's assuming the movie steams ahead on schedule, which, as I understand it, is fairly rare. If the movie is behind schedule I doubt Hasbro abandons a successful money-making line to promote a movie. Besides, we none of us have any idea what the "movie stuff" might look like, so there's no point worrying about it.

My friends on another board speculate less than a year, then I imagine they will be replaced with movie likenesses which I will be totally passing on.
But I hope the kids like 'em. Also when the movie toys hit, I predict a small-scale protest will erupt; led by activist moms that will get covered by mainstream media outlets and become the subject of a couple days of cable news debate. You heard it here first. ;) -PJ |

I don't see why after the movie is out and that line burns out why this line can't come back with a resurgence. The movie will only make spark more interest in the line.

Or, maybe they're canceling S6 to make room for just 2 lines. One 25th style, and the other would be a movie-style line of figures.

actually, everything is penning on the movie. It can either boost the franchise, allowing us to pretty much see anything we ask, cause they'll be a market for it. or it will kill it.
So if the Movie does well. we could see new figure sculpts, new or re-released vehicles and even playsets.

I've got another question, how many waves do you think we will see in 2008?

Well, we got 3 5-packs and 4 full waves in just 6 months in '07, so I'd imagine we'll see another 2-3 5 packs next year and maybe about 8-10 full waves of single carded figures. Of course then there are some vehicles coming and then it looks like the comic 2-packs are going to be out as well.
