Ok, so the 25th Anniversary figures reintroduced me to Joes. It's like "Yeah son, let get you a Transformer after that awesome movie and play with them . . . But, what's this? Oh my god, is that . . . I mean . . . that can't be. Is that the master ninja duo team by which all ninjas aspire to follow? That is. . . it's Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. And what's this? Flint, and . . . and. . . must get them all."
Anyway, after my geekgasm, I got back into it and bought some Cobra Troopers. I'm trying to set up a scenario battle between my kids and me. Yeah, I'm 34 and still play with toys. Sue me. So, I buy these Wave 2 troopers and I'm up to 11. I keep finding them all over the place where I live and when I travel for business. I think I'm broken. I can't stop buying them. Sure they don't have the red cobra emblem but who cares? How much is enough? Should I stop? I have four cobra officers I've found back in wave 1 and three troopers from the cobra sets (for which I paid $8 because of a price snafu on the retailers part). That's four officers and 14 troops. Hmmm, if I set up five man teams, that's one officer for each team. I guess I need just two more and each one will have its own officer. Am I normal? Scratch that. Is it normal for a collector to buy multiples of the troops? Is there something you guys just can't stop getting as you build your awesome armies? Thanks. |

I'm nothing like that. First of all, my kids don't get to play with these, just me (except a few extras from the cobra packs). Second, I don't have that many troopers. I'm up to 4 officers and just 4 troopers because I can't find as many.
So you see, we're nothing alike. |

I can't even find the Officer or any extra troopers yet. I can see myself picking up a few of each. It's just a matter of how many is too many to you really. If I could find as many as you have, then I would certainly be in the same situation. But I can't find anything more than what I have.

I have 12 officers, 1 5-pack trooper, and 3 wave 2 troopers. My son and I are having a blast with these new Joes. They see "action" everyday. Looking forward to finding wave three and the second Cobra 5 pack. We have a scenario already lined up for them. My son has been reading my old Joe comics and asking when we'll see figures for some of the characters so he can reenact some of the issues. I'm starting to sell off some of my other hobbies to fund the large Crimson Guard army we're planning.

I guess most of us are in the same boat, i remember playing with the GI Joes and Transformers as a kid but never really had the "pocket book" to afford them, so i was off playing with a neighbor of mine who's parents bought him everything.
20+ years later (i'm 31) and they bring back thes old school repackaged joes with more articulation. Man, i had a geekgasm myself and now the plus side, able to purchase them myself. Its awesome! I originally thought that i'd pick up 2 sets (one to open and store) but since these are selling like hot cakes.... as a collector, it doesn't seem like a bad idea to add a couple more. Especially if found at the store and not pay the eBay prices. Once the Crimson Guards come out, i'm sure we're going to be in some purchasing wars... I dig those figures, always have! I'm current and only need the Cobra Trooper figure to complete my set, until wave 3 actually is released (other than on Ebay ~ Bakersfield is too far of a drive) |

I'm sure each one you purchase makes that smile on your son's face grow even larger....so I say keep going!!
I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only 30-something who loves playing joes with their son. Best part of it all....having access to someone with the same interest 24-7.

Are they really that hard to find? They're like weeds over here. I keep seeing them pop up and I just gotta pull them free.
I just realized that this sounded like I was bragging. Anyway, good luck to everyone. As I keep traveling with work, I'll post where I find them. And, I checked ebay to see how they were selling. Oh man, that should be a crime. People pay $15 bucks of more for each one? Oh, and Toynewsi.com is calling them Viper Glider troopers. What is that all about? Don't they have to have to come with a glider to be called that? |
