So,
I went and had alot of fun! The GI Joe section of all the new toys was outstanding. There is so much new stuff coming it's amazing! I really liked the Hardmaster / Snake Eyes comic pack! ANd there is an awsome Scrap Iron / Wild Bill pack coming. Cobra Eels is also really cool looking. I have a bunch of photos, they are pretty good. Some Blurry but most clear. I'll post them tommorow. I had a looooong talk with the guy at the AFA booth. Do not sell your Black Cobra Commanders yet. He told me CHristmas time the value will shoot up through the roof. I also dazzled him with my BLUE COBRA COMMANDER ! He wanted me to send it off with him to get rated but I was hesitant because I just got it and I will most likely keep it so grading it isnt worth it. Here is the list of things I bought while there (I was lucky, I had 3 friends go with me so I had them buy me stuff also) Please, unless your going to make it worth my time and money spent for the trip, do not ask to buy my stuff. Heres my lucky list. I also included the limit people were allowed 1 Blue Jacket Cobra Commander (1 per person) 6 Black Jacket Cobra Commander (2 per person) 1 Snake eyes mini-heroes figure (2 per person) 2 Nemesis Primes (4 per person) 3 Lobos (2 per person) 2 He-Man King of GreySkulls (2 per person) I lost my sheet so I think Im correct on limits (dont quote me) I almost didn't get the Blue commander and I was very very mad. That was the whole reason I was going. That and the beach, heavy drinking and buddy time. Let me inform you of something I am going to try to make a big deal out of. I don't know who or where to write to but I will find out. The retailers in the SDCC (collectors booths) all set up the week starting Monday. Well, when the Con opens (Wed preview night) the retailers are allowed to get into line before they even let the crowds in so they can buy and buy and buy all the rare figures they want and then walk 50 feet down to their booth and slap a $100 tag on em. I heard 1 booth retailer had 4 of his employees all go get tickets and wait in line on Wed,Thurs,Fri right at the bell of the Con at 9 A.M. This is unethical. Period. Sure, I got more then 1 of each thing but that was because my friends chose to sell me theirs. that's their choice (plus I bought them all dinner) This is the same as if someone was a Toys R Us manager and as soon as a truck came in went through all of them to remove the "rare" one and then allow it to go out onto the shelves. Employees should not be allowed to abuse the fact they have early access. Anyway, aside from that I enjoyed myself. =COBRACOFFEE! (did I mention I have 5 MM Jokers muahahah)

Congrats man!!
Glad the trip was worthwhile for you!! That is rather shady that the dealers get first grabs at exclusives.

Actually I was suprised how fast it went. Those Hasbro people do not mess around. It took about 30-45 mins per line. They need to tell you in the begining about needing a ticket to buy things. I didn't know. So when we all showed up and went right to get in line we wasted 15 mins. This nice guy asked me "You know you need a ticket to buy right" .. after that I went back upstairs and got the ticket. People are only allowed 1 ticket per purchase session. They stamp your badge. Hasbro had a 12-2pm session and a 4-6pm session So you had 2 chances to get figures or doubles. =COBRACOFFEE

I went Sunday got what I needed, no line at Mattel or Hasbro at first opening, got some good deals on Joes, He-Man stactions, and a mangled Boxed Tripticon Complete for 115.00. I couldn't beat the prices, I got 4 black CC's, 3 King Greys, 2 Gigantas, 2 marvel/kazar packs, 1 lobo and a signed hasbro sketch book plus 2 he-man season 3 dvd's w/exclusive cover. Congrats btw on your haul.
Today I found Bazooka, BBQ, 1 bat,(bent corner guys relax) and an onlslaught transformers universe, I'll tell you there goes that refund check. |

Did you see what I meant about other retailers selling the Cobra Commander blues for hundreds? Yea, I debated on that Sketch book but decided to go with the little Snake-eyes fig. Now that I see he is availble and in stock on HTS.com I shoulda got the book and bought the fig at home. Did you get to meet William Katt? The greatest American Hero? That was my REAL highlight. What a great guy.

I'm just glad to read that there was some success at ComiCon. My friend came back dejected and a little disappointed. She said that the crowds were so huge it was almost impossible to get in to see anything and too full of people to enjoy just being there. I was starting to think maybe SDCC has outlived it's coolness, but maybe not. If you had a great time, and I'm sure others did too, then maybe it's still got some life in it yet.
