I've seen a couple of these on ebay, I think someone is producing them.

This is not an error. Just a super rare variant. Error is like a 1 or 2 time thing while variant is couple time. This is the 3rd one I've seen on ebay and I myself personally have one as well. Everyone should know the difference between an error and an variant. I myself thought this was an error as some people tell me its an error until I spoke with some people who has experiences in collecting explained what is an error and a varaition.

Maybe someone at the plant ran the machine with the flags backwards and soon realised it as they were coming out reversed. Then stopped the machine and fixed theproblem. Who really knows? Maybe someone is reproducing them. Regardless it's a pretty cool fuck up if you ask me. On that note is it possible to open a carded figure flawlessly without any evidence of tampering? |

Yea its a cool f*cked up figure if it really is an error. Now that you said if its apossible that smeone open up carefully and fix it to the way it is, I would sayd yes its a possibly because I never thought of that. Truth be told, error or variant, I'm glad to have one.
This is for mckeesportpaguy... Sure ill do that for ya as soon as I can find my duke since he is in one of the 12 boxes I had packed for moving. Ill honor that one for you so keep an eye out for the photo of me showing duke with a peace sign. I'm not raging war with anyone, just stating what I have learned from some people. =) |

I sold mine on ebay back when that wave first came out. That's how I found it at the store (no tampering or customizing. Wish I was that talented!). I posted a link here when the auction went live starting at $0.99 in case someone here was interested. I wasn't, so I sold it and the highest bidder paid $227.00.
That money has been paying for my collection so far. Here's a picture:

If I find one its going straight to EBAY. And cash it in for a tons of Joes. It's crazy to me how much someone is willing to pay for one of these.

It's interesting to see this pop up again. Because there's meaning to the upside down flag. Such as if the flag is flying upside down at a military base, or bunker, it means that the base or bunker is in distress. An upside down flag in military terms is like an S.O.S or distress call. So, if real, I doubt it's an error. It's like it should be called "Distress call Duke Flag variant." Because there is meaning behind an upside down flag.

Agreed, if it was Meant to be that way it would probably be labeled as S.O.S. Duke or something like that. But the reasons why it's worth so much more is because: A. It's an error card. and B. It's an error card with coincidental happenstance. Perfect example of a variant would be the 25th ann. Cobra Commander, and the As seen on cartoon version of Cobra Commander. Not an error but a variant. I'm tellin ya I'll bet someone at the factory ran a bunch of these off the assembly line backwards by mistake, and then corrected it. So that's why there are a handful of these out there. All the lucky bastards that got them are sittin on some good money! |
