Good topic
I personally would like to see some different characters like Billy, Kwinn, and Dr. Venom to name a few, but I'd also like to see 99% of the 82-94 characters updated in the 25th style too. If that happens, my vintage Joes will no longer be needed. |

I am only interested in 82-94 characters even though I stopped collecting around 90 (age 12).
I've recently been snatching up some MOC battle corps, eco warriors, and star brigade and although they are a bit goofy, some of the designs have alot of potential and would be great if remade with better function and detail. With hundreds of characters already in the history of G.I.JOE I have never seen the reason (or need) to poop out "kewl" new characters for all the kiddies out there. The classics are just that... classic....and kids will dig on them today like they did 25 yrs ago. Besides they were quite futuristic 2 decades ago and even by todays standards the hold up pretty well in that category. I will be livid if I see characters like lift-ticket, fast draw, or repeater skipped over for the likes of firewall, wraith, and mistress armada! |

I'm only going to be purchasing characters that were in the original line ('82-'94). I also might only collect figures that are re-sculpts and not re-designs of the originals. I bought Serpentor the other day and I guess I might buy Zartan, but I am not excited about either, really. I really hope we eventually get the original versions of those two made in this new line. BTW, anybody notice how on the back where you see the silhouettes of future figures that Zartan is the original '84 artwork....wonder if they had two versions of him made in pre-production and then decided to go with the remake at the very last second. Also, if we do get an '84 Zartan made, would you want him to be based on the actual figure or the old carded art that was never used in America back in '84? I 'd go for the carded artwork version I guess.
And I agree with Swafus, there is no need to release new characters. The old Joes still are cool to this day and really stand the test of time design-wise. Last edited by DarthBrett; 10-06-2008 at 03:10 PM.. |
