I thought they used "sonic welding" or something to keep the figures together. Don't know exactly what it is, but maybe some sort of vibration that softens the surfaces so they can be fused together?
Regardless, I agree that these new ones are tough! I was pretty confident after doing a few using vice grips and a figure wrapped in a sock. The grips hug the shoulders well, but they have teeth, sonits risky, therefore I double sock the fig.
The las couple I've tried have been pretty mangled. Another problem, is with the new sculpting, some figures have shapes to the shoulder washer/peg. Arctic Snake Eyes' shoulders are shaped to blend with the bulky jacket, so they got smooshed.
I can't recommend bringing screws back unless they somehow kept it so modern era backpacks still fit.

It really says something about internet nerds when there's a whole thread complaining that a product is too well made.
Someone at Hasbro is pulling a Picard Manuever as we speak.

Yeah, bring back the back-screw...
I nearly destroyed this wave 3 Zartan I wanted to customize because I couldn't open up his torso.

Yes use the vice method or wrap in an old sock and use a pair of channel locks to lightly squeeze but applying consistent pressure until it pops. I have only 1 body I had never succesfully opend this way (till recently) with out massive damage and that was the 25th ARAH Duke bodies like the ones on the officer 3 pack of Duke + Hawk + Grunt, alway sseems to break the shoulder joint inside the body. But with some practice and patience I ended up geting those to work as well. Just turn the body front to face the fulcrum of the channel locks and as the pressure applies it will pop open and leave you with a nice cracked chest. Wrap the body at least 4-5 times in the sock too as it allows the pressure to build around the body. Ever since i Started doing it this way and got it down I have had a lot of fun moving arms and bodies around it sure beats trying to cut thing or pry things open with exacto knives and screw drivers, your hands will thank you!
Same idea of the increased explosive power a firecracker has if you are crazy enough to light one and tightly hold in your hand which you should not do btw!

True. I'm having a hard time with the new figures. That Strato Viper/ Air Viper was so fused together it just pissed me off so bad. I just murdered that torso - still got to use the arms tho
