If you are a person who doesn't open thier toys, the new vehicle packaging is really great..
But does anyone else besides me wish they had the "old school" packaging, where vehicles were in cardboard boxes. I remember part of the fun as a kid was putting together the vehicles and applying the stickers. And I remember loving the art on the boxes when I was walking around looking for toys when I was younger. Maybe its just me? |

It's not just you. Part of the reason they package this way now is for theft reasons. It's harder to takeout parts when you see the product through plastic.

I miss the old box art myself. That was half the selling point back in the day. Sometimes the vehicle inside wasn't as cool as the box art depicted on the front. I wish they still did it this way, but if they did I'd have even less space to display my collection. Now, I open everything and pitch the box

I wish they used the old style boxes too. Those things were great, but I guess by today's standards they are just not cool enough unfortunately.

Agreed, old school boxart was great. I don't see why they still couldn't do it. After all, Sigma Six had it. And that wasn't that long ago!

While I liked the old school box art, it doesn't make sense for a MIB-collector point of view. Essentially, you have a box full of parts - any parts. If you can't see what's inside, who knows what you really have? You can't open it up, because then it wouldn't be MIB.
The new packaging still has artwork and allows you to display your item at the same time. Just imagine if the figures were boxed up and didn't have a blister on the front... you'd basically have just a collection of boxes. Seems silly, doesn't it? |

Don't get me wrong, I love the old school boxes but these new ones are nice. Especially for the reasons listed above. I've been keeping most of the new stuff sealed so it works for me.

I buy two of everything, one for my kids to open, one for me to keep sealed. I would prefer the classic box art, even if I didn't have one to open for my kids. But this is for purely nostalgic reasons.
