very good points.
i too loved the original packaging however i must say the window box treatment give us the best of both worlds. we still get box art on the end panels, a nice diorama background and great quality information picture on the rear with the added bonus of being able to actually see the vehicle. reall,y what is there to complain about other than the new stlye being suceptible to damaged? i'm spending good money to collect these, i'd rather SEE them than just some printed box art on front. i think we have the tendancy to take this nostalgia thing a bit too far... read the complaints presented on this forum on this product line. it's full of contradictory stuff. this isn't like the original enough, this is too much like the original... it's like trying to satisfy my 4yr old when he's tired and cranky.

Don't get me wrong.
The new packaging is awsome to get it sealed in box because it displays the vehicles nicely. But I LOVED when I was a kid, getting a vehicle and pulling the parts out of the box and "building" the vehicle and applying stickers all over. I guess I keep on thinking that its really not an "anniversary" edition anymore sore they won't have the old style packaging like they do the figures. |

I keep some of the new 25th stuff carded just for the art. The artwork has just as many memories to me as the figure itself. While I think MOC/MIB items from the original line are of value, this new stuff not so much. It's hot now, but will cool off soon. Look at Star Wars for example. Plus you have to consider everybody and their great-grandmother is buying this stuff up and hording it hoping to turn a profit one day. Todays toys just don't have or hold the value that the old stuff does. Plus a MOC wave 1 Flint sells for not that much more then a loose one.

i tend to agree in that i do not think this line will have the same monetary value as the vintage stuff in the future but that is mere speculation as only the future will tell.
not everyone with a moc/mib collection is doing so as an investment. in my case, it's more to have something i can pass on to my kids who will hoepfully pass on, etc. all our open stuff will get played with, lost, broken over time but my sons whom are now getting into this line never knowing gi joe before will have what i always dreamed of when they ge tmy age. my kids would not like a boxed toys. as a parent, after 8 years of buying them toys, i loath anything 'assembly required'. i love the new stuff just the way it is although the wire ties are a huge pain. my kids just don't appreciate the same things the same way i do/did and i don't expect them to.

Is not just you.
Im grateful that we got some vehicles but I would prefer them like in the old days, unassembled. That was the most fun to put them together and apply the stickers.

I'm happy with the new packaging and appreciate why it's been done. I especially like the rear of the boxes as they're very 'retro'.
Maybe Hasbro could try a compromise and put a flap on the front that features the old artwork, and when you lift it you see the window. But, I'll take the vehicles packaged either way as, at the end of the day, that's what I'm actually buying: The toy itself.

I could care less either way, just as long as they stop appyling half the stickers, freaking lame.

Yes, I was just thinking that the other day. I really miss the old school packaging.
The best part was putting your new Vehicle together and putting decals on it. Those were the days. |

I remember the older stuff and the fits my mother had putting stuff together so I'm happy with the packaging the way it is now. My only issue is the plastic things they put around the cannons on like the AWE Striker and Vamp. They are a super pain to get off.
