I collected ARAH when I was a kid, from the first figs without the swivel arm battle grip, through about the third or fourth year. Then my dad convinced my brother and me that we were too old for toys, so we gave them to a thrift store. Grrrrr.... Right after I had finally gotten the Tomahawk too!
Late last year I saw the 5 packs advertised, and thought, I need to get those... but then didn't think much more about it. My younger brother started buying the 25th for his 5 year old (my 2 year old isn't old enough yet), and when he showed me them I was almost hooked... then he showed me the advertisement in the comic pack with the original Snake Eyes and the 25th Snake Eyes... and that convinced me that I had to collect them. That was a few months ago, and I've been playing catch up since. |

It was a crazed time for me. I'd been subsisting on Masters of the Universe figures that had NO articulation and cost $20 each with 3 figures appearing every 14 months. When things were really tough, I'd pick up a Transformers Classic that would flirt with me at Target or Walmart or wherever they sell plastic crack.
I'd blow 10 bucks on those things and feel okay but that high would last all of 2 days max. I realized how low I'd sunk when I dropped two Lincolns on a TF Movie Deluxe Jazz figure. Yeah, the one that died. And in such a classic film work even. Yep, that's truly nasty and I realized I didn't love myself. So I was contemplating turning my life around; maybe putting all my extra cash aside and saving a couple thousand bucks for my dream guitar: a Gibson Les Paul ... but then I saw a Toyfare ad. One with Cobra Commander in sculpting and articulation I thought was just unbelievable. One fateful day in Target a couple of months later I was buying my daughter some Spy Gear stuff and there they were. I pushed the button on the GI Joe logo...eyes and ears assaulted simultaneously. I've realized that my addiction has taken a turn for the worse... I find myself customizing. Photographing "action scenes" I design. Posting daily on THIS forum dam*it! I need help. |

I've been collecting since 82. My first figure was Grunt. I was instantly hooked for life. Soon I was stealing just to feed the habit. I've done terrible things. Terrible!
Now for the serenity prayer God Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. Courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to know the Difference. |

I was open to many of the 3' 3/4" lines, like RAH, JvC, Spytroops, Valor vs. Venom, DTC, and once I saw photos of the first 25th Anniversary figures, I thought there were a few gems worth getting.

I had been nostalgic for awhile with GI Joe thanks to ebay. I hadn't bought a Joe since I was in probably the 6th grade, back in like '88 or so. But since I finally got a real job, I thought I could afford some stuff off of ebay. I didn't want to go crazy, like I had in the past, trying to collect one of everything with Star Wars POTF. So I decided I would limit myself to only my favorite -- and for GI Joe, it was Firefly. I bought the original (don't know where mine's at), and I ended up getting every version of Firefly, except the weird looking versions 2 and 3. Once I saw that new Joes were being made, I just knew that they'd make a Firefly. So when he was released, that was my first purchase. Then I found out about the Hisstank, and saw that people were doing customs for other fav figures not released yet, and unfortunately, that's what snared me.

I saw the new 25th Snake Eyes (V2) last fall at WalMart, he was my favorite as a kid. I bought him and it was downhill from there.

I actually found flint and snake eyes sitting on the shelf at target. I didnt know at the time how big this series was gonna be or how rare flint was gonna be. i looked on the back of the card and i thought maybe they will make 20 or so figures...boy was i wrong. And then i hooked like a crack addiction
