I thought about selling off all of my vintage joes when the 25th line came out. Just for room. I've got almost every fig 82-92 plus almost every vehicle. They take up a lot of room even spread accross three houses. Every time I see my father it's, "when you gonna take these comics and toys home." If I do decide to sell them it will be hard. I may want to keep some, which will make getting rid of the others harder. Just the work involved in splitting up shuch a alrge collection disterbs me, or maybe i'm just lazy.
I love the new era stuff and they will replace my ARAH line on the shelves but not in the heart.
Joe parts 82-90, AWA Remco, EXO-Squad, MU Mrs Marvel var, Ozborne Iron/Cap, var Dr Strange, Kang, Paper Bag Spidy.

Thank you everyone for letting me know what you all are doing with your Vintage Joe's.
I have really enjoyed being a part of the site. I can see there are a lot of good people here.
Almost feel like this is my second home now.

the only vintage Joes I have are re-releases from JvC through DTC, but I am planning on selling most of them off. if anyone is interested in anything specific from those years, PM me, I'll hook you up with good prices just to get rid of them.

If you really love GI Joe, I think it'd be a big mistake selling off your RAH if the reason is to buy more 25th. Remember that the 25th line is still "the new thing" and that's a big draw for everyone.
I don't use this term often, but I think it applies here - if you're a "real fan" of GI Joe, don't sell off your RAH stuff. You'll probably want it back a few years down the road. If you're selling it off because you think it's time to make some money off an investment (ie: sealed Joes/vehicles), or if you're more of an "action figure collector" rather than strictly into GI Joes, or if you need some fast cash to pay your mortage or support your family or whatever, you've got a valid reason. But if you really love GI Joe, you might regret it down the road when the 25th line is no longer the "newest hot thing" in action figure collecting.

It doesn't apply here, especially the part about people cashing in.
I do consider myself a "real fan".
I know I've spent way more than I should have on the toys, the dvds, the comics, and everything else I've been able to get my hands on.
I seriously have six large bins full of joes, and it's time to get rid of them.
I have no room for them, and the fact that I love the new style bodies, and would like to be able to buy more, I plan on using the money from selling off my old joes to get new ones.
It is nothing I regret at all.
I've been collecting for over ten years, so the "newest hottest thing" really does not matter to me, as I am not one of the newer fans who just jumped on the joe train.
I prefer the body style over the ARAH, and need to get rid of the old, to get the new.
I will say, and this is off topic, I am sure with the movie coming out, and the hype of the new joe line, I am pretty sure there are those part time toy terrorists who will be selling off what they can, to make as much as they can, while Joes are still the hot thing.
Anyway, it's all a matter of personal taste, and if someone chooses to get rid of the items they have had for years, to make room for the new, or maybe they've realized they have way too many joes around, or whatever reason they want, then so be it.
It doesn't make them any less of a fan of the brand.

I would sell my kidney before I ever part with my vintage carded 85 Snake Eyes. Or my carded 86 B.a.t. , 85 Crimson Guard, 88 Storm Shadow, 88 Snake Eyes. They are my babies. These figures are the reason there is a 25th line. No matter how much better the new figures are (and they are) the originals are my childhood memories. Many of my other collections however have been getting sacrificed.

Same here...no way would I sell my vintage. I enjoy collecting the new figures but the vintage...those are from my childhood that I keep for sentimental reasons.
I know people collect the new line because they are very cool looking and it's the latest but for me, GI Joe collecting is like Star Wars collecting. You buy what comes out each year and enjoy it and see how far they have come since the originals.
Hasbro churns out so many versions of a character or a vehicle for Star Wars, same for GI Joe but for those who collected the vintage, you remember how things were back then and the enjoyment you had playing with them. Now, I buy these and it's more or less showing my passion for GI Joe but it could never replace the enjoyment I had as a child watching the animation, playing with a group of friends and the excitement of getting the new catalogs featuring the latest GI Joe's and probably nostalgia of cool Christmas or birthdays, what family member bought you the items and things like that.
Over 25 years later since the original releases, we can either help our children enjoy a similar situation, collect and display or just buy and collect and know you have the latest vehicle or character of your favorites.
Hope I'm making sense...it's late.
