Been fighting the urge to open the door to new era, but airtight, lifeline and some others are pushing me over the edge! I tend to be a completist, but if I get into this, is it true that the older sculpts are pretty non functional in some/many cases? They look nice, but don't sit, or hold guns, I've heard...

I've had no issue with ME figures not posing properly. As for not holding their guns, ARAH figures look less convincing holding their equipment than any ME figures ever will...
I suggest you just buy a figure you like the look of, even if you just get one from a tankers trade thread, and make a decision for yourself. Some of the earlier ME figures had single jointed knees or no wrist articulation. Some figures have bulky webgear or bulky sculpts and the posability is a bit restricted, but still far superior to ARAH figures, in my experience. Remember they have twice as many points of articulation. The later figures improved more and more, as you would expect, but there is nothing significantly wrong with the any of the ME era figures. Except that some of them are f&%king ugly. Last edited by Exciter; 06-30-2011 at 06:54 AM.. |

Most of the early figures can't sit down as the legs only go to about a 45 degree angle. Also they are a bit taller so will not fit in many ARAH vehicles.
Still I prefer them to the ARAH stuff.

Man Dial Tone looks like he got beat up, the original does look better.
But, they are great for the most part, I got rid of my ARAH stuff as I replaced it with 25th. 25th Beachhead is fantastic compared to the ARAH figure. The early 25th were some what problematic, but then they worked out the kinks, ROCC updated more after they learned from 25th, and this is why the POC figures are pretty much the 3rd generation of the modern era and have great articulation ans accesories.

In this case, yes. Although, with a BAT thigh, he's closer ...
Thing I miss is the brown belt, though. I'm a sucker for a little brown leather on what's otherwise a figure with bold colors and metal and stuff. Last edited by ero; 06-30-2011 at 11:28 AM.. |
