Hasbro is causing a shortage in GI Joe to boost interest.
This could be examined and explored to a logical conclusion. Hasbro keeps telling GI Joe collectors that they are increasing production on GI Joe with every wave released. Really? Where are these figures? Every store I visit is dry. Online Stores very rarely have items "in-stock" it usually is "back ordered" or "coming soon". Hasbro isn't really aware of collector interest. Everyone wants a gajillion BATS or VIPERS and thus some go without one because some collectors hoard what they find at retail. If online stores take pre-orders, then why are they not filled. Isn't the orders these stores make good with Hasbro? Apparently, Hasbro can't fill the orders that stores are placing. Other Hasbro lines such as Star Wars and Indiana Jones are flooding store pegs and shelves yet no GI Joe. It has been a proven fact that people want what they can't have. Thus the more they can't find something, the more they search and want it. This also forces collectors to spend too much on ebay and other collector markets for something Hasbro could make the money on. Thoughts? |

it wouldnt surprise me in the least. I would assume that many stores cram more space for movie toys than actual toys like joes. in most stores i have been too all the movie stuff is right up front and good stuff like joes are tucked in the very back with maybe 2 pegs for figures.

I do agree to a point.
However, Hasbro has made a few attempts to stay in the good graces of Joe Fans; take for instance the fact that Hasbro has released Vipers in back to back waves (7 and 8). I've seen Vipers all over the valley...with most hanging on pegs for at least a few days. Plus, look at the comic pack fiasco; we now have 20-30 packs per store that no-one wants. Unfortunately, stores won't pull out new items until the older items are gone. As was the case with the wave 8 Roadblocks, good old Buzzer, and of course Serpentor. I think there are a combination of factors at work here. |

Star Wars is dry too, with the exception of store exclusives. But SW and Indy have movies pushing their lines.

a conspiracy? wtf! that's hilarious, i knew this was coming. again, hasbro never intended to go this far with this line. the fraking shortages are because of high demand! people like them, they buy lots of them, not too complicated.
