So are the Skystriker, Rattler, Night Raven and Conquest to be realistic
even the Power Team Elite planes are too small which everyone lauds I'm not asking for something true to scale, as I've stated in a previous post, that would be the biggest 1/18 scale fighter jet on the market, that not even the hobby companies have attempted anything close to. What I am going for is something of the "joe scale" that was used for RAH; smaller scale than 1/18, yet not disproportionate to the plane it is based on. The Night Raven, the Conquest, the Skystriker, the Rattler and others excelled at this. The Storm Eagle is too small. Something at least Thunderwing size would be sufficient. |

The YF-23 was arguably the better of the 2 ATF's (Advanced Tactical Fighter) program of the late 80's early 90's. There have been a lot of speculation on why the F-22 was chosen whether it be spreading out military contracts (back then Northrop was in production of the B-2) or Inter-service adaptability (it was rumored that the F-22 was easier to adapt for Naval service). But I digress, it would be nice to see this noble plane be resurrected even if it would just be in plastic. I agree with your statements that I would prefer it to be more proportional than electronic. I great gimmick would be having the weapons be carried internally just like the real thing. Just hit a button and the weapons pops out (like the night raven) .

It must have the retractable landing gear mechanism. One lever, all the gear extends and retracts. That is what made it for the original Sky Striker IMHO.
Good proportions, it doesn't need to be in exact scale but big enough so the figures don't look dopey sitting in the cockpit. No lights, No sounds, No firing mechanisms. |

To backtrack a little, what was the context that this YF23 was mentioned as the new (cartoon)Skystriker? Any links?

It would be a dream come true if they made my beloved Blackwidow in original Skystryker scale and detail. The Raptor was chosen for easier maintenance, cost and the fact that 1 of the Widows crashed during the competition. The YF-23 is the only thing in the sky that can defeat the Raptor head to head. I also think the deciding generals chose the design that looked familair. Can you imagine seeing a flight of Blackwidows slipping into the sky, heading out for a CAP mission?

The 23 was faster and stealthier. Quote:

I could swear the grey Widow crashed during testing, but obviously I am wrong. However, I was correct about the cost and maintnenance aspects:
"In April 1991, the Air Force selected Lockheed's YF-22 design for full-scale development, now termed "Engineering & Manufacturing Development" (EMD). According to the Air Force, factors in the selection for production of the F-22 were a better designed for maintainability, greater potential for future development, and slightly lower cost." http://www.globalsecurity.org/milita...craft/f-23.htm Some nice videos: It's such a waste to have this plane stranded on the ground. Maybe the Navy will choose them eventually since they hate single engine fighters like the F-35 that's being forced down their throats. |

One of the other big questions would be if their would be a foldable joystick. This was on the last joe planes Hasbro made. Luckily for the 23, it can tuck between the engine intakes.
If anything I don't want to see something with a huge cockpit, bloated body, and small wings, especially since the 23 is sleek, slender, and has big wings. |

I actually have the one with the foldable joystick and it works really well! Also, the weapons are stored inside the top of the plane and actually fire out the front. The only thing that would have made that last jet by Hasbro any better would have been the lever-operated landing gear.
