there is going to be no hiatus. the people who make the 25th are going to be the ones making the movie figures in the same 25th style. that is what they will be selling instead of the 25th.

Well, if they do end up putting the 25th line on hold, I just hope the movie line will be using 25th-style parts so they can be customs fodder when they hit the $2 bargain aisle at Wal-Mart...

I am afraid KB is right. I am afraid the movie will be a bomb of the proportions to make "Speed Racer" look like "Spider-Man." And the toys will glut the toy aisle causing retailers to drop Joe again. If the Modern Era stuff returns at all it'll go back to TRU or DTC and it'll be entirely repaints of what's already been made. That or get cancelled altogether--basically worst case scenario.
Of course, if the movie is successful, that means more movie toys and less Modern stuff, if any at all. I am not optimistic, but maybe the movie will be better than we are expecting, and the toys will, if nothing else, look good with the ARAH/Modern stuff. At least the vehicles--I am probably naive but I am expecting something cool vehicles-wise for the COBRAs. At least our wallets will get a break! I appreciate the Bro pulling out a lot of the stops between now and then. Of course, I still say it's the packaging that sells the single cards. The 5-packs, Officers sets, and comic sets have not nearly been as successful as the single cards. It's that retro look that sells them and catches the eye of the casual collector/purchaser. If they'd scrap the comic sets, put them on single cards with the retro-style card art, and box the vehicles retro-style, too, they'd increase sales, I know it. Star Wars vehicles at the $20 price point are not window boxes so there's no reason why they couldn't do vehicle boxes for Joe that way. |

Is this all true? Is it all down hill from here? We should all ban together and stop the future from ruining more of our toy happiness! What the hell am I going to buy after the Joes stop coming around? (maybe I'll get some food for my baby laying in the closet underneath all my "25th" figures, I bet she's hungry.)

Well its going to be all about advertising if they promote the movie right. People who do not know gi joe may take it more serious. But its going to be hard to do since they have to bring in the kids and adults who have long forgoten Gi Joe. So good luck hasbro.

I'm in favor of the NO Hiatus thinking. Hasbro is gambling big time on this movie and movie line. This film will not do what The Transformers did box office wise. Most of the people I know that are NOT G.I. Joe collectors thought it was a joke that they were doing a movie. And if Hasbro thinks it can't screw up G.I. Joe...sales of Sigma Six should haunt them.
To all those that want the movie line, have fun collecting, hope it's a cool line and hope you enjoy it. Personally, I couldn't care less, I want this line ( 25th Anniversay )and this line alone to keep going. So what should Hasbro do? Pray that the movie doesn't turn out to be this years Speed Racer at the Box Office. And hope they don't piss off the die hard collectors ( the gang on this board, "Da Island" and other boards ) 'cause they'll need people like us to spend huge amounts of $$ on the "classic line" Couldn't have said this better myself! TOTALLY agree with everything said here!! |

hasbro has already said that when the movie comes out there will be no more 25th whatsoever. but yeah, they did say the movie figures are going to be 25th style and not to be surprised if you see some guys everyone wanted in the 25th make it to the movie figures even though their not in the movie.
after the movie dies down they may switch back to redoing the old stuff. but when asked this they said they didnt plan that far ahead, this sounds like there going to put the movie stuff out for at least a year. |
