It's amazing that so many people are gearing up to savage the alleged 'sameness' of the movie figures (when in fact we know nothing of the sort) yet in other areas of this forum we have post after post clamouring for 25th versions of ZAP and SHORTFUSE.

Disagree with the original poster 100%.
The new costumes are great. The potential for excellent figures from this movie is enormous, but if people choose to ignore them because they're not like "what's gone before" then that's their business, but it doesn't make the product any less valid or 'official' GI JOE. You won't see me begging for Zap or Short Fuse. Blowtorch, on the other hand, I would be thrilled with. I do, however, also agree that I would not be into new EcoWarriors or DEF. There are limits... I also would love to see them pull some more costumes and designs from the comics. Arctic Snake Eyes is one of my absolute favorite figures. But a whole troop of figures wearing the same black armor? BORING. In addition, it takes away some of the mystique and "specialness" of the Snake Eyes character in my opinion. I completely understand that they can't tale the exact costumes from the figures and put them in the movie. They're just not practical in many cases. However, I do think that simply making a generic black set of armor for everybody is completely the wrong direction... they could have just used more muted colors and still kept some of each character's... well, "character". |

This looks too too sci-fi-ish.

Maybe that's twisted, but hey, I had more fun with the toys than watching the cartoon/movie. I liked the comic, and rooted for Cobra. Hell, I still root for Cobra. If Cobra was real, I'd probably be one of the first to join up... I hear Springfield is kinda nice. They are making a live action movie, not a cartoon. They're going for a 'slightly' more realistic take on G.I. Joe, and for a live action movie that is a good thing. Also, while we've only seen the battle suits so far, we don't know what the costumes for the characters will look like for the rest of the movie. Perhaps they will have other uniforms/outfits that are more colourful, and they put on the same military armour when they go into combat. So, while this post will surely be flamed away, I'm going to say I liked the customs, they do a good job of pulling of a common sense dress G.I. Joe where the Joes aren't making themselves targets for the enemy - a special ops team as it were, even like they were a highly trained special missions force... |

everyone, it's okay to complain, it's okay to be unhappy about something... don't be ridiculed into thinking otherwise...

By the way, for the people that hate Ripcord (movie version), for what I heard was that the Ripcord character was originally Stalker, but someone thought it sounded too much like a bad guy and just renamed the character Ripcord. So Ripcord has all of Stalker's qualities, but has the name Ripcord. |

i have to agree. if they are real, it's really disappointing. so much so i would not buy any. i did not buy any of the tf movie figures either so this does not bode well for joe movie sales if these are infact real. they simply look like head swaps as pointed out as the faces are not even unique as far as i can tell. not to discredit the original poster, but they look very suspect when unoriginal figures are simply paired with movie still shots.
