Some figs we know before buying will be great or suck. But for good or ill, what figure surprised you with its unexpected awesomeness/crapocity when you opened it?
Best surprise was Torpedo. I actually hesitated to spend money on him, but after playing with him a bit, I came to realize his hidden awesomeness. Unlike the classic figure, the mask is removable, along w his tank. With the mask, tank, and flippers off, and holding his silencer-equipped pistol in one hand and his black-epoxy finished knife in the other, he looks like he's sneaking aboard some cartel leader's yaht for the silent-kill. Very unexpectedly badass. Worst is probably Red-Star. I could see the Duke-hands, but then they hit me with a holster so big that it looks like it'd be more appropriate fopr an SMG. To cap it off, he's got a rifle that no figure in the 25th line can physically aim properly (unless he shoots from the hip). Maj. Blud should get honorable mention. Didn't know going in his bionic arm would have no elbow joint, or his helmet would be glued on, or his missles would constantly be trying to escape. -_- |

For the mot part, I mostly knew what to expect before I got the figures (based on reviews). I'd say what surprised me the most was the articulation on TF Flint. That, and I've gotten a lot of use out of his arms!

I never would have guessed they would have sold Falcon, Nemesis Enforcer, Croc Master, Wraith and the rest of wave 10. Quite pleased they did sell those figure, can't wait to own them.

nice thread!!
Best - I will list the easiest ones first: Snow Job, Copperhead, Wave 4 CP - Firefly / Storm Shadow, Snow Serpent. But, recent surprise is General Hawk (wave 9), the detail is amazing (painted metals and name on jacket, silver highlights in hair); also love how this figure is close to the original! Worst - Ace (butter face), Wave 1 CP Scarlet, Duke, and Cobra Commander (whats up with those fluorescent colors?), and hate to say it but, the new up and coming 3 packs (Destro/IG's, Wild Bill pack, and Cutter pack) - sure to warm the TRU shelves. But, the absolute worse is Spirit, his face is uglyl! The old ARAH head looks better! I am a MOC collector so I don't open, but I am considering opening this package so I can put a bag on his head. |

Bazooka!!!
Was never a big fan of his, but the figure is a 100% new sculpt, and the accesories are awesome. I'm a big fan of Bazooka now! |

Biggest surprise to me was the '89 version Snake Eyes. Though I'm sick of the character, there is nothing that could improve this figure. He is perfect.
