Scoop, you make some good point. Sometimes it seems like Hasbro needs one of us on staff to point them in the right direction. Like you said, re-using the parts isn't the issue. It's re-using them correctly that sometime makes me scratch my head and wonder.
Now I don't really mind the HISS tank driver having those pads on his arms, I really don't notice them unless I look for them. but I was very surprised to see Tripwire have the quilted padding on his chest, knowing that they smoothed it out for the HISS driver. Don't get me wrong, I'm just glad to have Tripwire, he was always one of my favorites. But I know how could have been done perfect with just a little more thought put into it. One other advantage of them re-using molds is the figures are coming out pretty quickly. We all should know that the 25 (or Modern Era) line should be stopping once the movie comes out, so they're pumping as many characters out as fast as they can. So I'm kinda caught in the middle. I would like some more thought & different sculpts put into this line, but I also want as many unique Joe & Cobra characters I can get until the Marlon Wayans Rip Cord is on the shelves...

I bet that the poor selection of parts is probably due to some really mundane, cost-cutting reasons. Like, the reason that they used the textured-pads torso for Tripwire instead of the smooth-pads torso is probably because the factory that's making Tripwire already had the textured mold. The people who cost this stuff out probably see this as a minor detail, so why bother sending the smooth torso all the way there when they already have practically the same thing. It makes some of us fans gnash our teeth in frustration, but, hey, it's not like it's going to stop us from buying it, so why not?
Major Bludd, on the other hand, I think he exists only because Hasbro felt that they absolutely HAD to use that Zartan mold again, no matter what. Seriously, everyone on the board has Frankensteined a better Bludd than the pos they gave us. |

im hoping its just a packaging change and the figures will be normal looking. I can tolerate that but i'll be damned to the 9th level of hell if they try pumping out old characters in the movie look as far as figures go. Leave the good alone and just do the smart thing, have your crappy movie line which many of us will use as fodder for customs ( tell me im wrong here if the movie stuff is 25th modern style compatable) and keep making modern vintage characters normally.

Sometimes they say the 25th line stops at the end of '08, sometimes they say it will run alongside the movie line. Guess we just have to wait & see. But it would really be a dumb move. But Hasbro never really seemed to care much about this line anyway. |

true jjkk. They dont seem to care nuch about any line. Just look at how they bastardized transformer with the movie line, stopping the classics line and now this animated line? thjen they say oh we're gonna do classics again and it slap my head and think...why did you stop classics in the first damn place you morons? I do the same here with the joe line. HAsbro take an example from that line and dont stop the modern figures just cause your wanting to do crappy movie figures that will sell for a month then peg warm the other 11 months of the year.

Scoop, I agree with all of your points and it makes me wonder what the true order of these figures are in terms of when they were designed and tooled especially when you consider the Tripwire Factor. It is almost as if he was planned around the same time as Flash/Grand Slam but was then never released...they finally decided on a comic pack with Cobra Commander??? kind of random...and failed to change the possible already existing design.
Of course, This is all speculation, and it seems that they had plenty of time to make changes once the change tooling for HISS/AVAC, but then I don't manufacture toys, but I will sure customize them to get what I want in the end. |

perhaps but i'm willing to bet that the classics woulda stayed the course had hasbro kept going with em and would possibly become the new standard TF's just like these current joes are pretty much the standard for joes now. And who knows if the Tf classics had kept going what else we mighta seen? headmaster? Pretenders? metroplex? Fort Max even? we'll never know now.
