Thanks for all the replies, it definitely helps. Common consensus (here and on other boards) seems to be that the newer stuff is just not out there in force yet, for whatever reason. I've told him that I'll keep looking when I can, but that he can't really count on me to be his number 1 source any longer. Things have changed here and I think we have more collectors and scalpers than we used to... the 25th line is just too cool to not draw additional collectors and scalpers are just too opportunistic to pass the limited availabilty up. The turds! I suggested he get his mom involved (she lives in the Phoenix area) and that he may have to go back to pre-ordering.
Thanks again! |

lets hope the greater availablility of wave 8 (compared to other waves) reduces the incentive for scalper practices.

my city, kansas city, is usually bone dry and it seems like one of the last places that gets the new joes. however, i have found if you travel to smaller hamlets and towns that surround cities you might have more luck. i don't make a special trip, i just have to travel around different places for my job and i'll stop if i see a walmart and such. outta the way places are the way to go if you don't want to do the computer route.

Toy sales have ALWAYS slowed down during the February to August period, always, always, always. As such, retailers always reduce their orders of product during this period unless tied to a major new product or motion picture release like the summer movie tie ins (Batman, Hulk, Iron Man) or hot new cartoon series (Transformers Animated, Star Wars Clone Wars, etc). Case assortment preorders from Entertainment Earth show that every 2008 release plus a few late 2007s are going to be shipped and reshipped for a good portion of the year. Come September, pegs and shelves will be full of not only new single figures, but of vehicles and multipacks. It is simply a matter of patience, but I'm guessing that except for card changes (for those who care about that), no figure should be terribly hard to find come this fall.
