I think once this run of Joes is complete, or perhaps before I was planning on doing this same type of thing. I have done this with Star Wars figures in the past. I haven't printed them out, just created some Desktop wallpaper.
If I could get some decent High Rez pics, I would gladly put something together (I'm a graphic designer by trade) I could post a pic later of a past wallpaper if you'd like. But of course, I would still need pics... I'm betting that if the request were made to Yojoe.com, they may grant access to their original sized pics of the carded figures. (after assurances were made that it was not for profit etc... Quote:
just a warning: answer this question carefully.
hmm... army building moc, i agree in that a moc collection is not inherently army building but that is a personal opinion based on my definition of army building. i consider it mulitples in this case. i won't disclose here what my collection contains specifically anymore as this forum can be intolerant and cruel but i personally don't see a problem with someone keeping 1 or 50 moc. once you purchase it, it's your to do whatever you wish. play with it, stare at it blankly, build a shrine to plastic figures, doesn't matter to me. i have them to play with (with my kids) and to admire. both are equally satisfying to me. one trick i found was to build a virtual moc collection for my son. i scanned all my moc figures and printed them out to tape up on my sons bedroom wall. it's actually pretty cool and saves me a ton of money and headache. not a day goes by without my sons pointing out some figure or another on his wall and continually asks me to get him more. at some point it will be nice to assemble them all into one file nad have it printed in banner/poster size instead of dozens of individual pictures. i'll wait for till i'm done with the line before i do that though. fyi, anyone know some tricks for scanning moc figures and getting bright, colorful results? there doesn't seem to be anyplace online with an image library for the carded figures at printable resolutions and without watermarks. |

I must admit that if people do "army build" MOC figures, I really don't see the point (unless they want to pretend their bedroom is a toy shop for nostalgia purposes), but... Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations in all things, including toy collecting, and I'd never presume to apply my tastes to anyone else!

i would gladly upload all my scanned, carded images to my gallery if anyone would be interested. i already have an extensive collection of cut cards in my gallery already. if it were to be semi-professional looking however you will need the bright, colorful images you see on some online shops, etc. i'll upload at least one tonight to show as an example. all of mine are at 300dpi and 100% size.
facehammer- please email me thru the forum. i'd love to work with you on a large graphic using these for personal use, not for resale.

I think to answer the question "Why would someone army built MOC?", We have to also ask why we army build loose? I think there would have to be two completely different trains of thought. I personally don't understand why anyone would army build MOC, because I would get the same enjoyment from one carded figure that I would get from 50. They're identical in nearly every way. Loose army building means that 50 of the same figures can have 50 different poses. I don't consider setting up scenarios or dioramas "playing", but I do enjoy it and rotating them out every few months.
So if you do indeed "army-build" MOC, I'd sincerely like to know if the satisfaction of 50 is different than the satisfaction of one. Not criticizing in the least. It's just a fascinating aspect of the hobby I don't understand. |

well i have 5 or so of each guard open, for display.but im not gonna display 50 of each figure. i have a hrd enough time displaying 40 in my game room. also since they are moc , it is easier to get what you want as far as trading goes, because i would see it as if you are searching for a specific moc i would assume you would have to trade a moc. i do understand this isnt in all circustance.but also when i am broke i can always exchange in a few of my overstoced cobra guards . for example i spent about $115 on wave 7 and less than a week wave 8 came out. lucky for me i think repaints are getting costly and kinda lame . but i traded in 2 guards so i could pick up major blood and even though i hate repaints i picked up tiger force flint.this was just incase of the rarity and demand of the first flint. so i got him for insurace purposes.

multiple MOC figures is not the same just because they share the similarities of multiple figures of a troop building type because there is one more aspect that defines the practice -- utilizing the figures in display or play as an army. by that logic, I can also expand the definition of army building to my Joes, which although I have only one of each, are arranged as an army and individually are troops, because that too, only adheres to one specific aspect of troop building but ignores the others. the dynamic is the same. unfortunately, both examples ignore the entire meaning of what army building is. like I said, this has nothing to do with anyone who buys multiples of troop builders and keeps them MOC, I couldn't care less what you do. army building is the same compulsion as buying multiples to keep MOC, so the purchasing practice is the same. but army building has as much to do with the purchasing practice as how they are used; you can't eliminate one and still say it is the same. what I am talking about is that in the MOC case the term is being used incorrectly and has a meaning differently from how it is being used. sure, both are a compulsion, but army building means more than just owning multiples of one particular figure. |

How effective is an army that cannot reach their weapons due to excessive plastic?
Wait a sec...the weapons don't actually shoot, do they?...nope, I just checked, they don't.

i would just say this isnt english class. i am not here to prove anyone wrong.why be politically correct over a toy? last year when i saw the first of the 25th line, isaw a cobra troop. i said to myself, (i am going to buy all of these i come across because i never got to have a ton of troops as a kid). this is waybefore i got the computer involved with these toys. reguardless if it is called moc collecting or troop building I STILL HAVE AN ARMY OF COBRA TROOPS. and just because i have the 25th line in moc form doesnt mean i havnt collected g i joe for25 years.i dont have to prove you wrong for politically correctness to make myself feel better. point the finger at yourself. are you a cobra? are you a commander? if not , then how could you have an army? just to say anybody can always prove anybody wrong.
the link below advertises a troop builder pack.http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...ductId=2945317 it doesnt say anything about having to open them or pose them in order for them to become troops. if i leave them moc the package will always say troop builder.
