And me being glad is not for the fact that I could find these figures, but for the fact that this story would have been better ended if it read "The manager said I could only buy two of each figure, so I did, then I left"
I feel sorry for the managers that have to put up with this stuff, just to have to lay down to your smug victory. I have worked retail, and there was not a better moment than when the customer stormed off because he couldn't have his way due to a store policy, not because we were assholes, but because it was nice to let them know that they couldn't always have their way, and that they needed to respect the fact that we were workers, not lackeys trying to help someone fill their obsessive needs. Sure! Let the St0re run things like its a concentration camp. We all have to line up and get to only be rationed '2 toys' at a time of THIER CHOOSING. Either that or we are told that 'everything is out' making us take our business elsewhere. TO many rules and polices DO NOT HELP you business. In case you don't think I can make my point Just look at toys r us. I used to work there I have also worked at K*B toys and Target The first 2 In a "Managerial" Role. I Remember people (scalpers) coming in any buying ASS-LOADS of hot toys. I didn't restrict them I let them do what they wanted. However, If I knew they would be returning them 'because they didn't sell I would not always put out the best figures first.' I would leave the "hot one" in the back or hot set off the sales floor wait till a saturday when we were 'heavily' shopped. that way the chances or someone getting in a buy more *due to the fact they could get more than 1 figure at a time* was increased. I didn't play games with the merchandise But I also didn't let people take advantage buying the 'good figures' then going to TRU and buying the 'crap figure and bringing me back a peg warmer. that just pissed me off. Thankfully once the scalpers knew that I was 'intelligent' they didn't do it to my store Also If i knew a certain collector was looking for something I would do my 'best' to save him that one hot figure. I did give preferential treatment to some people who didn't act like complete DICKS. Those who did were S.O.L Sometimes it can be a good thing helping out a collector. the reason being, by helping him out one time it creates a positive experience. By helping him out with a 7$ toy your chances of increasing your potential sales goes up 10 Fold. I know what if a certain manager helped me with a toy I was looking for I would be more likley to go back to that store more often than not. Giving them by business. I am pretty sure, that by the manager for the retail store helping, Agent GHQ. He will be purchasing more than just toys from that store and when he goes in he will give more than just his business to that establishment he will give them positive feedback especially when asked about his experience at target. So overall we should be applauding GHQ as well as the target manager GHQ for taking the initiative and educating the manager on the hot commodity of 25th Joes. AS WELL AS getting the toy Dept to increase thier peg count to "6" DOUBLING your chances of finding the merchandise. The Manager should be congratulated for taking the time to provide excellent customer service and going out of his/her way (as well as the associates who gave GHQ the information) If all of our experiences were like this, the world would really be a better place. we would all no be so frustrated with EMPTY pegs and have a whole lot less to bitch about other that other peoples Acquisitions. O k I read the whole entire tweeker post. Man what a lame story. Lol
Man I only know a couple of collecotrs that are some what cool, chill, and normal. The majority are cut throat materilaistic no soul t v baby monsters. A story how you punked some target employees to purchase every wave they had in stock. Hahahaahah that's funny. Quote:
So I was at target because I learned that this particular store had approximately 90 pieces on hand. Yup, you herd it right, approximately 90 pieces on hand.
Upon arrival, there were about 12 figures on the peg and i'm like something is wrong here. They had all but the Hiss Driver and Cobra Vipers. So I approached an associate and asked if they can help me. I ask if they can pull out more figures from the back because according to the store records, it shows this location had about 90 figures "On Hand." I also told the store associates that I was looking for the Cobra Vipers and the Hiss Drivers as well as the ones already on the pegs. The store associate replied and said "Sorry Sir, but we can not pull out more from the back until the pegs are low." "And that we want it to be fair for other customers to get a chance at getting the figures as well." The associate further stated that "There are notification that says can not pull more figures from the back." At this point, I was disappointed and completely disagree with this particular Target store's policy. And so I requested to speak with the store manager on duty. So the store manager arrived and I introduced myself and shook her hands firmly, like I mean business ya know!! I informed her that I strongly and completely disagree with her store policy regarding action figures. And that if anything, the policy does more damages than good. So I began to explain to her my reasons. For one, there were no signs or notifications regarding limits or "Store associates can not pull out more stocks from the back room." Secondly, the store policy is not nationwide and its something this particular store came up with. Third, its not fair for those customers who makes the effort to arrive at the crack of dawn to compete against other customers. Last, I feel that it should be a "First come first serve basis." And I further told the Manager that if you want something, you have to make the effort to get it because things don't just come to you. You have to earn it. I also told her that the last Target I went to had no problem pulling out more figures from the back room. In addition, that is how quality customer services is all about. To go above and beyond the expectations of valued customers. The store manager re-evaluated the situation and decided to bring more figures from the back. In fact, they had two toy associates hauled out about nine cases of wave 7 and one case of wave 8. FYI: there were other retailers that I got my figures from besides Target. |

What classics figures do you have from the first wave of figures? I have all the Deluxes and Voyager size except for "Nerf" Megatron. I like the Japanese repaint though, and would eventually like to add him into my collection but I have a hard time swallowing the 50 dollar price tag for him =). |

I totally forgot about Powerglide. Yeah, I am trying to decide if I am going to get him or not. He does look cool from the top half, but he's got the little legs and big upper body syndrome; which kinda turns me off on him. However, being that he was a cool character in the cartoon and his alt mode looks really cool, I will more than likely pick him up.

Now again, to reiterate my side of this arguement, as to not be confused as someone who is just mad at him for getting all the preciousesssss.
If someone walks into a store and sees a ton of figures on the pegs, have at it, get them all, their there, snag them. I have no qualms against that. If someone goes into a store and is looking for a particular figure or two, and asks if they have them in back, alls good. but i guess what gets me is to buy every single figure that is on the pegs, and to (in my words from reading the story) "demand" that all of the figures be put out, just to buy all of those too, thats where it kind of got me. And to look at this as something liken to an agressive business move and a victory over the management trying to hide said preciousesssss, was what I found as a little insulting having worked in retail before. I apologize if I come off as one of those who is mad because I dont get them, im sure some of it does come from that, but I can't help but read this story, and imagine Boss Hog as the main character of the story, laughing and holding his gut as the management has to bend to his every whim. that last bit is for humor of course, but I am sure as hell glad Im not working retail anymore, or i imagine a few of use wouldn't get along too well.

Thankfully once the scalpers knew that I was 'intelligent' they didn't do it to my store It has been done.. and Do you Then how come stores enforce rules with Videogames and they still sell well Amber? I mean look at the Nintendo Wii! Stores either limit 1 per guest or hold them in the back until their Sunday ad due to the high demand and the shipping shortage for this system. However, you never hear people complain about how stores are working them over even though they are sitting in the back. Whether they like it or not, people respect store policies when it comes to videogames as they know that there is nothing they can do because store policy is store policy; and yet these things still sell like hot cakes as soon as they become available. IMO, I think hardcore action figure collectors (i.e. scalpers, troop builders, etc) are a more greedier bunch that feel they have a right to these figures and will do anything in their power, short of robbing the store, to get these hot items despite store policy. |
