| DOC (Arctic Threat) ROC/POC Pics & Review!! In between the full Pursuit of Cobra line & bridging the gap from Rise Of Cobra, we have a small selection of figures that are considered ROC/POC. Basically these are ROC figures that are POC themed & made it to retail before the plug was pulled on ROC & POC was pushed back, due to figures/lineup changes, & actor likenesses lost. Wave 5 singles of ROC & the TRU Winter/Spring exclusives fall into this category because they are POC intended figures in ROC style packaging & made it to retail before the line was cut. HFH Doc (Arctic Threat) falls into the above category...
Doc has become an exclusive in modern day Joe. First offered as the only mailaway figure from ME Comic Packs, one that proved so popular that they actually made a 2nd run of Doc's to fulfill demand... and then again here as am exclusive to Toys R Us. I'm not sure if Hasbro thinks Doc would be to boring to kids today to be a mainline figure, or if his cool-as-ice attitude makes him part of the exclusive crowd, but Doc has had 2 modern day releases & both have been exclusives, although this particular Arctic Threat Doc has been one of the easiest modern Joe exclusives to find @ retail. I know my local TRU has a slew of them as of the date of this writing. Packed as a "Headquarters for Heroes" style figure (2 exclusive singles packed in a case) Doc & Shipwreck have been available since the beginning of the year @ TRU, both featuring the POC themes but the ROC logo, making them fit in with either your ROC, POC (or even an expanded Resolute), collections.
When Doc was first revealed in his arctic incarnation, he was the subject of much debate due to his "day-glow" colors, we haven't seen a Joe quite this neon since the 90's, but pictures exaggerate his vibrancy, & fans posting pictures of modern day military in the arctic, did prove that these colors have some validity in the current military arctic world.
Doc's construction is pretty standard, he is made up of an ME Arctic Trooper Snake Eyes from neck to toe with the ME Doc's head, & the collar from the Canadian released Polar Sharc "Ice Storm" figure. Where he shines though is in his gear... Doc comes with his staple flare gun, helmet, satchel, & a white stretcher, but then with some creative painting, the ME Comic Pack FireFly's sabotage backpack becomes a medical one instead!! Genius! With the inserts repainted to a medical theme we now have a silver multi-tool, a white bandage pack w/stethoscope, a blue water tank, & an orange flashlight. Plus a new gray soft-goods blanket, metallic blue snow cleats (from ME Arctic Trooper Snake Eyes), a red & yellow injection gun (from POC Arctic Threat Destro), and a ROC stand. This makes Doc seem more than fully equipped for his frozen tundra missions.
Since the figure is of ME construction he has a pretty limited range of motion in the elbows, hips etc., but is well balanced & can be put in a variety of poses. He is not great for sitting in vehicles, & seems to be more of a "foot peg" kind of guy.
Doc maybe isn't all that action-packed, but you can be sure that he will stand out in your collection lol. He is another chance to get a "Doc" in your lineup if you missed out on the mailaway figure, & he is a nice a addition to your arctic adventures, as he offers a plethora of cool gear & is sure to be rather unique (in colors & equipment) within the line...
