HissTank review of Pursuit of Cobra Snow Job
We’ve seen recent releases of Snow Job—the G.I. Joe arctic trooper first released in 1983—during the 25th Anniversary and Rise of Cobra lines that provided an updated version of the character’s original look. In the upcoming Pursuit of Cobra release, Snow Job gets more of a make-over. Although he still has his full red beard and snow goggles, the rest of his appearance is a bit different. He now wears the bulky winter gear of the RoC Snake Eyes, here in white with a green camo coloration. Instead of covering his head, the coat’s hood is pushed back revealing a green stocking cap and headset/ear muffs. Snow Job comes with plenty of gear: a radio-equipped backpack with an antenna; a gear rack; a satellite phone; a gas can; a fold-up cooking pan with camp stove/burner (I think); a long, scoped sniper rifle with bipod; two skis; two ski poles; an ice tool; and a sniper's nest cover.
It appears that many of these PoC figures bring a lot to the table, in terms of detail and included equipment, and Snow is a great example. I don’t know if some will be put off by this deviation from the classic look of Snow Job, but I have no problem with it. It’s the detail of the head sculpt and the gear that does it for me. He has so much gear, in fact, that it almost overwhelms the figure when it’s all put on. You have to spend a little time getting the figure to stand without leaning back. It also took me a while to figure how all the gear fits onto the pack and what everything is for. I think I have it correct, but maybe some of you have a better understanding. There’s a gray piece that fits with the pan that I’m guessing is some kind of single-burner cook stove, although I’m not certain. The white piece of cloth I first thought was a bed roll, but that makes little sense because there’s one molded on the pack (plus a single layer wouldn’t be very warm). Once I noticed the slits in the fabric and the extra holes on the skis, I think I discovered its proper use as a lean-to cover. The set-up shown in the pictures might not be exactly correct, but it’s the best I could come up with. (EDIT: I just saw the other SJ thread and I see that this has already been figured out as a sniper's nest!)
There’s not much for me to complain about. I guess the biggest thing is that the goggles are not removable. Personally, this doesn’t bother me all that much, but I know some of you may feel differently. Also, the head can’t be moved too much while the coat is on—again not much of an issue to me. I do wish that the sides of the coat snapped together slightly differently. If the sides with the pegs and holes were switched, then the seam would not be as obvious from the front. Lastly, the rifle is a little large for the figure to hold easily.
Overall, I think this is a great figure and I’m really looking forward to more of these upcoming figures. It’s especially a nice bonus when the production figures look as good as the preview figures shown at conventions.

Nice. Loses a point for non-removable goggles, but anyone who bought a Rockslide will have an extra head lying around so it's not gamebreaking. Accessories are ridiculous. We're really making out with some of these.
