Hasbro reuses the name Dragonhawk for another air-borne vehicle. This time, they name the GI Joe Bravo price point helicopter "Dragonhawk". Packaging is in the standard Bravo class box. Box measures 11.5inches long, 7.5inches high and a little above 4inches deep.
It comes with WildBill as the pilot. He has no other accessories aside from a removable hat. No handgun, no helmet, no display stand. The back of the box basically shows all the features the toy has -- nothing more, nothing less. ROC Dragonhawk :: 071420093306.jpg picture by zephon_s774 - Photobucket The toy is packaged in an inner box. There is a sticker sheet and an instruction sheet included. ROC Dragonhawk :: 071420093307.jpg picture by zephon_s774 - Photobucket Loose parts such as the engine covers and rotors are kept in a small bag. ROC Dragonhawk :: 071420093308.jpg picture by zephon_s774 - Photobucket Slight assembly is required -- the tail section needs to be attached, engine needs to be covered and rotors need to be individually attached. Thus, the Dragonhawk is now longer than its box. ROC Dragonhawk :: 071420093349.jpg picture by zephon_s774 - Photobucket This helicopter has a very distinct canopy design that makes it look more like a "dragonfly" than some other aggressive insect. Note that I have this thing about my Joes that nobody flies anything without wearing a helmet. Thus I replaced the RoC WildBill's head with the helmed head of SRO WildBill. The primary weapon of the Dragonhawk is a minigun located under the c0ckpit. Movement is limited to left and right swivel. ROC Dragonhawk :: 072020093366.jpg picture by zephon_s774 - Photobucket Small as the gatling gun may look, I think it still looks more intimidating than say, the Cobra Gunship's primary weapon. Here's the main play feature of the Dragonhawk: You pull back the part encircled in red.... ROC Dragonhawk :: 072020093367.jpg picture by zephon_s774 - Photobucket ....and the sides of the Dragonhawk expand to reveal hidden missile launchers! ROC Dragonhawk :: 072020093370.jpg picture by zephon_s774 - Photobucket The missiles are simultaneously launched by pressing a cleverly hidden button behind the launchers: ROC Dragonhawk :: 072020093371.jpg picture by zephon_s774 - Photobucket Beyond the missile launching feature, my favorite (and my 2yr old son's favorite) feature that is NOT there is any rotor mechanism. The helicopter's rotors are free spinning -- no trigger mechanisms or gears or whatever. They kept it simple and...fun! My reasons for buying the Dragonhawk are 1) It's one of the few new molds in the RoC toy line and 2) I wanted a "new" airborne vehicle to interact with the Pit. Here is the Dragonhawk landing on the Pit's helipad. I'm not really sure how much these things go for in other countries, but as far as price point of Bravo class vehicles are concerned, all the toys in the picture below are priced the same! Talk about a sign of the times! ROC Dragonhawk :: 072020093392.jpg picture by zephon_s774 - Photobucket Alright, here's a little secret -- on its own, the Dragonhawk can't properly land on either one of the Pit's helipad. The 3rd landing gear is too far back and the helicopter ends up leaning on the back fin. What I did was pick up a small piece of plastic (from a zoid?) and glue it on to act as a 3rd leg. It's small enough not to impede with the 3rd landing gear when on flat surfaces but tall enough to prevent the hind fin from brushing on the ground. ROC Dragonhawk :: 072020093397a.jpg picture by zephon_s774 - Photobucket Here's a picture I call "Parking Full". http://s14.photobucket.com/albums/a302/zephon_s774/GI%20Joe/ROC%20Dragonhawk/?action=view¤t=072020093397b.jpg To sum things up, sure, the RoC Dragonhawk is quite pricey on our side of the globe but of the 4 Bravo vehicles that are currently on the shelves, he's the only Joe vehicle. He interacts with the Pit very very well. Though the Dragonhawk is pretty much out of scale, its size makes it ideal finger candy. In fact, you can have one on your desk and it won't add to the clutter. I have a gripe that the Pit doesn't have a vehicle to go with it and the Dragonhawk fills up that spot! ***** |

Is the Wild Bill the same everyone has gotten countless times or is it the new resolute Bill I've seen pics of?

I can't wait to get ahold of this bad boy. I love how the firing missile feature can be hidden so those that don't like the launching missiles don't have to see 'em.
The canopy is pretty cool. I like it. Supposedly, people around here say this Wild Bill is "Resolute", meaning he's patterned after the Resolute cartoon Wild Bill. But he's as "Resolute" as Gung-Ho is (meaning, it's up to you whether he's a "hidden" Resolute figure or just a RoC version)
