After 30 years we have a new Recoil figure! What do you think of this guy? This is my take.

That’s a fine review for Recoil, the L.R.R.P. (“Lurp”).
I kind of wish the Club would have updated his filecard to say the L.R.S. (“Lurse”), because in the 1980’s the military revised the program using the previous L.R.R.P. manual, and have since called it Long-range surveillance (L.R.S.). At least they corrected the typo from the original figure’s birthplace to Vashon, Island (the largest island in Puget Sound, between Seattle and Tacoma) from Fashon Island (which some would think, Fashion Island?). Larry Hama had the Vietnam concept of the six-man surveillance unit figure pretty heavily into G.I. Joe stories, and had Recoil serve as an RTO (Radio Telephone Operator) for such a purpose. The Club kind of altered that with this figure, making him a US Army MOS 25C, a Radio Operator-Maintainer (the guy who repairs your broken equipment?). I don’t think that Recoil’s vintage helmet ever looked like Devo’s ziggurat shaped plastic “energy dome” helmets previously worn by that American new wave band. Instead, I always suspected that the Hasbro designers were inspired by the Star Wars “Recon Scout Helmet” used by the Endor Comandos and Rebel Soldiers from the film released a few years prior. That helmet was an altered AN-H-15 cloth helmet, accessorized in such a way that it had a striking similarity to the one worn by Recoil. Maybe somebody at Hasbro thought “that’s what Recon Scouts wear”. The Club nicely modernized him to wear a Pro-tec para jumper tactical helmet, but I would prefer his iconic vintage look. His other accessories are as you mentioned: a M16A1 assault rifle with a M203 grenade launcher, MOLLE gear rig, a Tactical Field Radio Rucksack with a AN/PRC radio, large survival knife, FN FNX-9 semi-auto pistol, and a Mine Case that has four M18 Claymores, a M57 Firing Device, and two spools of firing wire. The accessory you were trying to name, his “Dual Tactical Weapon”, is a combination that seems very strange: a scoped FEG KPG-9 Hungarian Machine Pistol with a 12 gauge shotgun mounted on the armature of the machine pistol handle. I don’t know why he would carry that on a mission, but hey, at least it’s black this time and not baby blue in color.

Recoil has always been a personal favorite. Unfortunately these figures are just too pricey for me. I would've liked to have seen this during the POC era, as it looks like it would make for easy, head-swapping customs.
