Nice video. During your review, you asked your viewers to identify one of his accessories if we wanted to.
Well, would you believe that Lt. Clay Moore does not have a bazooka? Really, it’s true. It’s been a while since the 1982 Zap (v.1) action figure was sold with an M20 “Super Bazooka” Rocket Launcher, which could fire 3.5” rockets. Larry Hama had to remind Hasbro that the bazooka just isn’t used anymore. Lt. Clay Moore is packaged with a Mk153 SMAW (shoulder-launched multipurpose assault weapon), and his backpack is a rocket case for storage of his four 83 mm rockets (which should probably be inside their munition casings instead of on his back). And now you know…

So is shoulder-launched multipurpose assault weapon a fancy way of saying, personal rocket launcher? Lol Thanks for watching and helping me out on this.

I fully admit I don't have a much knowledge when it comes to real life weaponry. When I do mention the correct names it is either by luck or I looked it up. If I look it up then I usually will put a picture of it.
So this thing is not a bazooka? Is the Mk153 SMAW like an up to date bazooka or something entirely different? So they are rockets, good to know. So is shoulder-launched multipurpose assault weapon a fancy way of saying, personal rocket launcher? The term “Bazooka” refers to the appearance of those WWII rocket launchers resembling the comedian’s musical instrument (a bazooka) from popular radio before the war. That light hearted description of the weapon remained through the Korean and Vietnam wars, but was gone after that. Unless referring to a historic drama, movie, etc., nobody calls that a bazooka anymore. For that reason, the G.I. Joe codenamed “Zap” from 1982 would not be referred to as Bazooka Soldier, and that was the point Larry Hama made. Zap’s weapon could engage a tank or bunker at a range of 180-220 m away, but Lt. Clay Moore’s weapon does so at 250-500 m effectively, or could be attempted up to 1,800 m. Zap’s weapon used fixed sights, while Lt. Clay Moore’s weapon includes iron sights, a Mk 42 telescopic sight, and a spotting rifle sculpted along the right side of the toy. The front half of the two piece toy is the Mk 153 Shoulder-Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon, while the rear half is the munition casing for the rocket. These are interchangeable depending on the intended job: Mk 3 Encased High-Explosive, Dual-Purpose (HEDP) Rocket for anti-bunker, Mk 6 Encased High-Explosive, Anti-Armor (HEAA) Rocket for anti-tank/armor, and Mk 80 Novel Explosive (SMAW-NE) Rocket for caves and buildings. Inside the cap is a magazine for the spotting rifle containing six Mk 217 (9×51mm) spotting rounds, or tracers. On the toy sculpt, the magazine is displayed as already loaded into the spotting rifle, and looks like a small flat square/rectangle on the right side of the toy, just slightly above the forward grip. In the realm of imagining G.I. Joe, it would sound like someone is taking single shots at you on the battlefield, while they are actually ranging you before they fire the rocket. They don’t have to fire all six shots, but just as many as needed until you are on target. This brief video might help to see and hear it:

Thank you. Yes and no to the Eel arms. Upon further investigation the lower arms are that of the 2008 Eel: https://www.yojoe.com/action/08/eel4.shtml The upper arms I originally said were from Firefly v22: https://www.yojoe.com/action/10/firefly22.shtml, but I now believe that the upper arms came from Snake Eyes v64: https://www.yojoe.com/action/13/snakeeyes64.shtml. After that discovery I can not believe I mistook those upper arms. They don't even look the same. Tiredness I guess.

Cool idea for a figure, nasty looking collection of parts though. Is this a Vala Frankenstein?
Transparent blue (Ultramarine?) pigment in translucent plastic is also not doing the figure favors. Last edited by Adventure Fun; 03-28-2019 at 04:53 AM.. |

No, this is absolutely not a Vala figure. He told me that the club did all of this one on their own.
