It's that time. We have arrived at Fast Draw. One of my favorites so far. This guy is cool.

Another quality review video, MacDowin. Great work!
The 2018 G.I Joe Club exclusive FSS 8-05 action figure Fast Draw (Mobile Missile Specialist) surprised me, in that I never thought I would enjoy this figure, but was wrong about that. Limited arm motion and strange parts selection aside, it’s quite nice actually. Fast Draw’s ultra-portable, computer linked MRL (Multiple Rocket Launcher) backpack with right and left positional arms, black connector cables, and PGM (precision guided munitions) removable rockets were really the best option for this figure, and previously used (as Chris Rooks already mentioned in the comments) with the 2011 Conrad "Duke" Hauser (v.43) of the Pursuit of Cobra line and the 2015 G.I. Joe convention Metal-Head (v.4) figures. I don’t like the inclusion of the Compound Z injectors which came with the 2011 Hazard-Vipers of the 30th Anniversary line, (or as 46 Zone mentioned with the Cobra Lab-Rats of the 2014 G.I. Joe convention). They might have been used before that as Nanomite Injectors with some previous figure, but I can’t remember which one. For Fast Draw, they are supposed to be his white hand control triggers, but now they are battery powered wireless remotes? That’s nuts! His sidearm, an “old west style revolver” as you call it, may have its origins from 1872, but is still one of the finest handguns manufactured today. Called a Colt SAA (Single Action Army) “Peacemaker” revolver, it was once the standard military service revolver of the US armed forces, and helped us to win many wars. Some collectors have noticed Fast Draw’s similarity to Blow Torch, and taken to calling him “Fast Blow”, but I can’t accept his flame throwing similitude. Blowtorch (and the other Flame Thrower action figures) wore an Oxygen mask with an air supply tube because their manpack flamethrower tended to burn up all the air in their vicinity, but that is not the case with the 1987 Fast Draw character. Instead, he used a Voice Linkup from his face mask to his FAFNIR missile system, and his helmet required an internal surface large enough to display his threat and malfunction warnings, and target locks. Like the Blowtorch figures, he is wearing in the small of his back a 1 kg. Dry Powder Fire Extinguisher, but it’s highly unlikely that the munitions he is using is going to start many small fires in his immediate vicinity, so why carry the extra weight? Sure, his suit needed to protect him from the hot exhaust gases, but no more so than the previously mentioned Duke and Metal-Head figures because of his new rocket launcher. The level IIIA armored shin guards/greaves are nice, but unnecessary for Fast Draw. He’s about as much of a target as a radio operator on the battlefield, so he needs to remain agile. That’s the whole purpose of “Fire and Forget” rockets… shoot and move, then shoot and move again. He could do well to drop some of that excessive weight. A great action figure, but anything to make him less Blow Torch is a step in the right direction.

That was quite an amazing post. Very fun to read! I also have decided, since filming, that I don't like the grieves as much. I have taken them off and like the figure just as well. I believe in our modern age of technology the white triggers are probably "bluetoothed" to the backpack. Although voice command would be just as modern and probably more efficient. I thought that backpack would fall apart pretty easy, but pleasantly surprised at the sturdiness of it.

That's a horrible idea. The launchers would get bluejacked the instant any given Data Viper noticed Fast Draw's presence om the battlefield. XD |

I only say that because I really don't know how bluetooth technology works inside the devices. I know that some specs. Lol. I was only meaning some sort of wireless technology. Bluetooth was first thing that popped in my mind.

While the term "bluejacking" obviously refers specifically to Bluetooth tech, my comment was aimed more at the idea of using wireless signals to control battlefield equipment like Fast-Draw's FAFNIR launchers in the first place. Like I said, you don't want to suddenly become the victim of some giggling Cobra electronic warfare specialist who then proceeds to remotely shoot up every friendly vehicle in your unit with your own missiles.
