I just picked up a Hiss III from WM today and had to do a break down of the Rip It figure. It is basically the same parts as the Retro Hiss Driver except for one part. The T-bar is plastic:
The T-bar swivels a bit, and the balls of the T-bar are a little smaller than the metal version. If you were to swap out the legs for POC legs, you get a very floppy figure. This is the best I could get this figure to stand when using the POC legs (and that is including the rubber discs in the hips): With the ball being smaller, it causes him to be in a flexed position if you want to keep his legs at the same width as the Retro Hiss Driver: If you want him to stand up straight, you have to put his legs even wider: Even when you use the stand, you have to flex him forward a bit: All-in-all, he will make a good "officer" to my Retro Hiss Drivers. I haven't tried to fit him in the vehicle yet as I will probably trade it. I don't need any more Hiss Tanks. If you plan to keep him in the tank all the time, then he's a good figure. If you want to pose him, he will be limited. I wonder how much money Hasbro is saving using the plastic T-bars. It makes it very difficult to customize this figure, unless you pack the hip sockets with stuff. If you add too much stuff, you risk breaking the socket though. At least he can almost live up to his name:

I noticed the change in the T Bar myself. I do wonder if the new bar will be in a few years if it's stuck in a "flexed" position.
I did find it interesting that they reused one of the molds from the earlier figures, especially since they seem to be going to a new build system. Love the picture with the golf club! |

Thank you! I haven't opened mine yet. That's interesting that the T-bar is plastic instead of metal. Does it seem sturdy like it will last several years without breaking?

Nice review. I never saw the new HISS tank here and only one store showed it was available but was never able to find it.
I might get Rip It if I find him, but don't really need another HISS tank. Even the first Retro HISS, I only wanted the figure.

So, are the thighs a solid molded/welded piece like retro Stalker or can you still split them by taking out the screw?

Great review as always. I love the look of this figure. I was debating on troop building him but like you said I think he will make a good officer for my Hiss drivers. I have 5 Rip it's. Now what to do with the rest of them is the question haha

There can be more than one officer! Paint a chevron on the helmet of one of them and make him a senior officer.
